maybe she's smarter or has a good personality
maybe they want a woman with a smart personality to represent indian women than one with a nose-tip a certain diameter....maybe.

I knew people would say she’s ugly. 
Miss Indias in the recent past have had pretty faces but their heights/bodies have been lacking. This year(the best batch in a long time) picked tall and toned girls for the top three. Neha Kapur was a favorite right from the start because she is 5’10, has a killer body, is extremely confident and articulate and has an excellent rampwalk(which is one of the MOST important thing at Miss Universe). She is also an Elite Model and the past Miss Universes have been very supermodel like.
Amruta Patki, Miss India Earth is very tall(5’11+) and she’s pretty but she’s slightly bottom heavy and she’ll do good at Miss earth if she really tones up.
Natasha Suri is a complete package but i dont really like her face.
There were many other prettier contestants but they lacked the confidence, charisma and body that Neha Kapur had. My favorite contestant Vibhinita Verma who is probably the prettiest, is also an Elite Model, has a nice body(not as good as Neha’s) but she was so visibly nervous in the final night that she didnt even make it to the top 5.

i haven't actually watched the miss india contest myself but I do hope that miss india universe is confident, articulate and intelligent....but when people watch these contests they hope the winner is beautiful and intelligent all in one. So many south asian women have both these qualities...
aditi govitrakar is a model and a doctor....WOW!! so many other examples but i can't think of them right now....

chiaiman, wow 5'10" that sounds more like what a miss universe winner would be like. Last year's miss india gained a lot of weight after miss india.
Nowadays, they really don't seem to care about winning miss universe...their only goal is after miss india head for bollywood!!
How long has it been since anybody from india won an international title??

I’m sure many people off the street could beat her in a beauty pageant. Besides, that’s not the point. For example, when you claim that an actor or actress did a horrible job in a movie, do you think you can do a better job acting? When one doesn’t like a particular song, do they think they can do a better job at writing one?
