Miscarriage

Unfortunately I have had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. This was my first pregnancy, so the excitement levels of when we found out were naturally high.

It was a missed miscarriage where the body didn’t recognize it self and we found out due to no heartbeat.

I underwent D&C procedure to remove the tissue about week ago.

The emotional journey has been a roller-coaster but as days go by, you learn to accept it and move on - and somehow understand Allah Swt has a reason for everything.

At first I was blaming myself, but soon realized how common MC are within first trimester.

Has anyone here had a miscarriage in their first pregnancy, how long till they went on having another child?

Any tips, info you can share will be great.

My devrani had a miscarriage this year in January-ish. She was about 8 weeks in Pakistan and went to Canada (still at 9ish weeks) when she miscarried. She came back to Pakistan in June, and is now 4 months pregnant.

Don't lose hope. It's heartbreaking but maybe Allah knew some hidden benefits or protection. U will inshAllah get pregnant again soon.

Re: Miscarriage

A family friend miscarried at 10 weeks. She travelled to Pakistan and miscarried there. Idk what procedure they did but it blocked her tubes and she is having fertility issues. I had miscarried at 7 weeks. I waited a couple of years to try to get pregnant again.

Re: Miscarriage

I'm sorry to hear this op. So I am mashallah se almost in my third trimester now but I also MC last year from my first pregnancy at 7-8 weeks. Hang even made it to my first ultra sound yet and I had been apart of a three day wedding weekend and then started bleeding on Monday so naturally you try and think about what could I have done differently. But I think when something is meant to be it's meant to be. I only really started trying 6 months after that as I wanted to wait and give myself some time as I always felt a little unprepared for it the first time but inshallah most women go on to carry normal pregnancies after their first MCs and you will too iA

Re: Miscarriage

I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage, more so that it was a missed one. I went through the same thing last year, with the missed miscarriage being detected at 12 weeks, although the feotus had stopped growing at 7 weeks. I also went through the operation as i just wanted it over with and not worry about passing it at home. I don't think I would have coped with that. The op was in December and we decided to take a break from trying to conceive again, we went on holiday and just spend time with each other. But i found myself ready around March and alhumdulillah we fell pregnant in June, I am halfway through my pregnancy (20 weeks/5 months) and everything is going well alhumdulillah, had the scan yesterday, baby is healthy.

Don't worry yourself so much. There was nothing you could have done to prevent the miscarriage. It's just something that would have happened and inshallah you will be blessed again. I would advise you to just take time out for yourself and your husband. Maybe a holiday or a mini break or even a day out. then when you feel yourself ready try again :) if you ever wanna talk, please feel free to PM me. :)

Re: Miscarriage

Its very common sister. Allah has a plan.

Relax and try not to worry.can't do anything about things that are out of our control. Insha Allah it will work for u soon

Re: Miscarriage

Thanks everyone for your replies.. Makes me feel a little better that it does happen quite often. I am trying to remain as positive as I can and have strong emaan in Allah Swt for his future plans.

How long did it take for everyone here post MC to get back to normal cycles?

Was there any types of exercise/activities you initially avoided?

My husband wants to ttc soon after, but I want to give it a break to let my body recover, and using this time to shed a few kgs, get healthy and fit.

Re: Miscarriage

Zainykhan, thats exactly what I did, I took time out to rejoin the gym, make me feel better about myself. Start a healthy diet etc

Re: Miscarriage

Yes iA I will use this time productively. Remember me in your prayers guys!

Re: Miscarriage

Keep up all your prenatals for sure don't stop those and as your doctor will tell you you need to wait at least one cycle before trying again to make sure the pregnancy hormone is out of your system entirely and getting back to normal. It doesn't take long but everyone is different, talk to your doc and inshallah youll be there soon. :)

Miscarriage

i miscarried last month at 6-7weeks. it would have been our first child. still traumatized by the procedure (MVA) i had to get done in order to get 'cleaned up' so to say. its so heartbreaking. i dont want to try again out of the fear it might happen again....

Re: Miscarriage

I miscarried earlier this year at 7-8 weeks. It was my first pregnancy as well and I chose to take pills. The GYN assured that everything was normal with me and the hubby but it is very common in the first trimester. She explained that sometimes the chromosomal abnormalities lead to it and it can happen to anyone.

I got over it after a couple of weeks but absolutely hated the fact that some people advised me to eat more and more because I happen to be slim, but that’s just my body and its fast metabolism. I felt like I was responsible for it and on purpose starve myself. :smack:

More than 6 months passed, I became sure of the fact that something still isn’t right. Aunt Flo visited randomly, from 3 weeks to 6 weeks, any time. This was unusual because it was all perfect before the miscarriage. I was thinking maybe my body needed time to recover. I wasn’t getting a + on preg kits even after trying.

I consulted a doctor, had my blood work done and the doc said my vitamin D levels are low as well as I am not producing enough thyroid hormones. Hypothyroidism increases the risk of a miscarriage so that could be a factor, or not - who knows? At this point, I am just so confused and frustrated because no doctor ever pointed it out in my blood work, and I had them done at least every year. The prescription medication, I have to take it for the rest of my life, according to the doctor. That scares me so much, because of the side effects of long term use of synthetic, man-made hormones.

I researched online, once I got home, and it said VIT D deficiency can cause thyroid disorders. Maybe, if I just increase my intake of VIT D through diet and supplements, I wouldn’t have to take the medicine all my life. So, I’m just trying to play around with it, hoping for the best. I have to go back after 6-8 weeks for more blood work. I will ask my doctor to refer me to an endocrinologist.

edit- I don’t mean to scare anyone here. Just sharing my personal experience, that I am going through right now. The doctors at the hospitals did all the tests and everything was great AFAIK. I just don’t know where this thyroid disorder came from.. Or maybe the ones at the hospital skipped testing my thyroid hormones?

Re: Miscarriage

Maybe they messed up her d/c?

My GYN said I only have to wait until my next "normal" cycle to try again.
