I just heard on Geo that Misbah-Ul-Haq is the new VC of the Pakistan cricket team. But, I havent read anything about it on cricinfo or any other reliable sources. I wonder if its true?

Not sure about this decision but Misbaw is definately the best Sportsman of the year from Pakistan.

This is not right. He should be given time to establish himself and feel more comfortable within the team. Such decision can have effect on his performance.

I have not read anywhere about this news, but even if they want to go down this path, I don’t know why would they talk about replacing vice captain. From Asif to Butt to Younis Khan and Misbah, one can not predict what the board is thinking in the sense of who should lead team Pakistan on long term basis.
They have backed Malik as the captain for about an year and I read this statment on Cricinfo about him;
I think they are really upset with Younis Khan, he may have ruined his chances with his antics of rejecting and than showing interest in captaincy. If PCB does not want him to lead the side, they should atleast give him some voice on the field as a vice captain. Misbah has never lead an International side and Younis Khan is the only one on the field who knows the best way to set up field, change bowlers and even select team. To discredit him at this point of time when Pakistan is loosing almost every series is a wrong move.

As a rule, VC should be the captain-in-waiting. By rejecting captaincy twice, Younis makes for a bad VC candidate, except in cases of emergency when we have no one else available. Malik is fairly young, so poor form is probably more of a concern than age. Ironically Misbah is probably older than Malik, so if all things work out nicely its not a situation where once the Captain retires, the VC takes over and makes for continuity in team's good fortunes. If both Malik and Misbah keep developing as a cricketer and grow in stature, Misbah will likely retire before Malik anyway. Then again, cricket is not a linear sport. Funny things happen all the time.
Younis now suddenly making himself available for test captaincy, and making overt moves to snap it is dumb-founding. May be all he needs is another ass taken to him home for him to back out again. Plus he should realize that the autocratic (and often irrational) PCB that we have will never give him the sort of power Imran Khan (and later Wasim Akram) exercised. If he intends to keep whining about it every now and then and throwing tantrums all around, than he is better off just letting his bat talk.

What voice does PCB really need to "give" to Younis Khan while on the field as VC?
Misbah has led Pakistan A team many times, don't know what the results were. I don't mean to defend Misbah as captain or VC, but thought to let you know.
With Shoaib Malik's "nazakat" showing up more often now, PCB might be thinking of making Misbah as the "stand-by" captain for such situations. As Faisal above said, VC should be someone who would take reign over from a captain once he retires, but then how many times our captains "retire"? :D
If PCB is not willing to give youngsters a chance in the team then I don't see anyone as potential VC other than the most beloved one, yes you guessed it right Kamran Akmal.
