You’ve got two very attractive friends and they start arguing over who is better looking. It starts off with a comparison of clothes then starts to lead towards hairstyles etc. You are the silent third party while this bickering takes place. The argument has reached the point where both of your attractive friends turn to you and say “you decide who is better looking?”
What would you do? They are both good friends of yours. They will not accept the diplomatic response of ‘you are both good looking.’
There is also the risk of hurting feelings.
Yes these are very shallow people who see beauty/looks as EXTREMELY important measurements of how a person should be judged.
It will be interesting to hear responses. I will let you know how I handled the situation once I get some feedback
Mehnaz. Everyone know's at least one person who base their whole life on looks and judge all other's also on their looks. If you know them they would be a friend. Perhaps not a good friend but you would probably introduce them to other's as 'this is my friend.............'
These are not best friend types. They are more friend/aquaintance types that you happen to be sitting with when such an incident takes place. :)
Oh. I usually joke around and say Im better looking than the two that are arguing.Then I do that 'tossing hair over my shoulder /walking out of the room' thing.:D
What about a reply such that shows that they're both different yet special and you wouldn't have them any other way.
for example:
"X, you have a really sweet chacter and your eyes are fabulous. You're slim and have a figure that looks stunning in jeans. You're fun to be with.
"Y, you're a person I can talk to when I need help. I'd kill for a nose like yours! You're just the right height for most things and long skirts look fabulous on you.
"Now won't both of you please compete to show me who the most mature and least superficial person is... ?????"
It's been great/interesting reading all of your responses to this thread.
Here is what I did. When faced with the question 'Who is better looking?' I looked at both of them shook my head in disbelief at the ridiculous bickering that had just taken place, got up and walked out with out saying a word.
Needless to say they found my behaviour quite insulting and they no longer talk to me.
This has affected me sooooo much that I spend nights awake crying trying to figure out why oh why will these vain, shallow, selfish people not talk to me.......hehehehe :)
