the 'special' punjabi is called potwari ppl rolleyes ... and if im correct, potwari is spoken by the people of jhelum, gujrkhan and mirpuris amongst other ppl aswell.

Saqi m8 it's Pahari (Pathwari) zabaan that's spoken in Mirpur and it's surrpunding areas and not Hindko. Hindko speakers you will find in the hills of samani, jandi chontra etc

Yeah - Potowari/Mirpur/Pahari spoekn in district Rawalpindi including Jhelum i.e. Dina etc; and districts of Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh and not forgetting border areas of Poonch & Rajouri in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Have you seen the programme on KBC Sanj Panjaliya were this language is spoken by all sorts of people including Sikhs and Hindus?

Speaking this language does not make someone Mirpuri. Its just that language is similar.

thanks you rock express, in fact most of the time u can very easily differentiate between potohari n mirpuri because theres many words which are different
ppl just somehow start to assume that us potohari are also mirpuri
khair it doesnt make too much of a diff i guess

There is some link between Mirpuris and Jhelum..

See Jhelum is next town down from Kharian which is where i live and Mirpur is i know 57km from Gujrat which is next to Jhelum..
let me map this out..

Kharian (DD)—>Jhelum—>Gujrat—>umm---------------------->Mirpur

So…what i think is we have some migrant mirppuris in Jhelum and because of arranged marriages between the two sides..some Mirpuris have a mum from Jhelum and a dad from Mirpur…

Yeah lots of famalies are related from district Mirpur in Jhelum & Rawalpindi especially the Potowar area i.e. Gujar Khan, Kahota, Kalar Sayeda, Dina etc.

Also, not forgetting relationships between Bhimbar in Azad Kashmir district & district Gujrat. People from Bhimbar do not speak Mirpuri/Potowari/Pahari but Panjabi.
