Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Photo of Quade-Azam cricket stadium, Mirpur (Azad Kashmir). Gives you some idea what it looks like. River Jhelum in the background.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Rock_Express Bhai, thanks for stadium display picture. The entire image seems quite peaceful, if anything, surrounded with calm serenity away from the mental stress and anxiety of everyday life.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Looks nice. Hopfully one day it will host tests and ODI’s. :k:

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Yes - this is what they are planning to do in the future and it has plenty of capacity. I think they will do this once international standard hotel is available. I have been told that these types of hotels are under construction and if my information is correct hotel chain Holiday Inn are planning to do the same or are already constructing.

At present some regional under 19 matches are being played here.

Once the infrascture is in place - I think its a good location for the specators to reach i.e. cricket lovers from Mirpur district, Punjab and District Rawalpindi can travel easily and quickly here.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

You sure thats river jhelum? Isnt this the mangla lake?

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Yes lovely natural beauty around it. However the stadium is actually located right in the centre of the city.

I think one of the most picturesque stadium is in Muzafrabad - capital of Azad Kashmir. I think this stadium was constructed not too long ago and is even nicer then this especially the surrondings. They are also planning to hold future international matches here - again international type of accomodation is still not available.

I don't think any matches have been played here and the ground was used for relief work during the earthquake.

Once the infrascture is available in these type of locations, I feel some future international matches should be held away from tradional venues. This not only will provide opportunity for the locals to witness such matches but also promote the game in these areas.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Difficult to tell it could be Mangla lake or the river.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

i have been to mirpur many times and looking at the terrain and hills on the top of the picture, its most likely mangla lake :)

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

I haven't been back home for number of years however I will find out the exact background.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Yes dhobi Bhai - these surrondings are my roots, it definetely is a very pleasant way of relaxing especially in the village. No stress, beautiful breeze in the morning and no noise etc.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Looks very scenic and peaceful. More pictures available?

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Plenty of the area but not of the stadium.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Cool stadium... :)

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

It looks really nice esp. the surroundings. Hope that in future, it will host some ODI's and tests.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Since a lot of you have been impressed with the surronding areas. I have added 2 photos taken near the stadium:

Photo on the right taken from a roof top of a under-construction bunglow by the stadium.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Glad to read the updates as well as witness the latest beautiful scenery photos, Bhaiyya. Definitely, once the necessary accomodations are in place, International-level matches should be held at this stadium to attract the locals under one belt. Not only the above, but also domestic talent should be given a chance to play at this ground from time to time to increase the awareness of cricket in more developing and surrounding areas.

Closely looking at the very first picture you posted, it seems that there is hardly any grass present in the ground. The thickness level is quite minor, and much like our ever-popular Qaddafi Stadium, this one seems to be heading in the same direction, where the rollerblades are used to shave off the 'remaining grass areas'. I suppose those groundsmen have their own interior motives for doing so.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Yes - it must have been prepared by the PCB ground experts or the groundman who prepares the Qadaffi stadium. I don't think any one in this area has the skills or experience of preparing grounds.

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Thats awsome,, I hope to see a international fixture against India or England there..

Re: Mirpur cricket Stadium photo

Beautiful stadium, i hope we prepare a bouncy pitch there and then start playing some international games. Mirpur isn't that backward palce so it won't be too long before we see a 5 star hotel there.
