I'll reiterate and clarify once more, just for the betterment of your understanding that Madrassas are simply a place almost every Muslim goes - when in the first or second grade of regular school, and irrespective of how rich, poor, western, eastern they are - to learn how to read the Quran and nothing more.
You are probably talking about people starting up private unaccredited schools sponsored by local places of worship, which is certainly an in adequate education. In today's media, that is what they refer a madrassa too. This as a secular minded muslim, offends me.
