Minorities in Pakistan.

God bless Musharaf and his government. They have done more positive things for the minorities in Pakistan than any other previous Pakistani government that I know of.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

Minorities were never treated unjustly in this country! Only some of the extremist mullahs did terrorists attacks on them during the last 10 or so years!

Otherwise they actively take part in all activites in this country!

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

in past 60 years ..minorities enjoyed every kind of freedom in Pakistan but unfortunately..this was not the same case as in our neighbour country....sorry to say...

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

If anyone wants to prove a point, he can just point finger at India having billion plus population with more than 36 languages and almost all religions of the world being practiced..and most of the time anyone can get an example to prove himself right as there are crimes and inter-religious clashes happen in a demographically vast country like ours.

But most of the time people never try to understand or don't want to understand is the fact that if one compares the total population and the area of India with Pakistan and based on this the percentage of total no. of incidents of inter-religious clashes or minorities right violations, it will become clear that India was, is and will be much better place to live than those self-proclaimed "secular" nations.

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

True to great extent! But you need to control the menace of shiv sena and VHP as we are trying to overcome religious hatredness in Pakistan which started in 80's!

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

^ sir...no doubt about india vast area and populaion but can you give me a single example when a "igtamai balat kar " of any hindu sindhi girl happened in sindh or pakistan in past 60 years...just a single..can you give me... similarly can you give me whenever there is a incident of burning alive of hindhu or hindhus in sindh or pakistan... if you say billion + then pakistan isabout 16 crore ...round about 15 times less...but still one can claim that the riots particularly in mumbai..ahmedabad...bihar...meerhat .....delhi...pahar gung...."after 1947" .....are so great in no..... that 1/15 of them not appened in pakistan ..not a single.....not ballat kars of 8 tears old irls on streets of hyderabad...mir poor khas..umer kot or larkana..as happened on the streets of naroda..Baroda .....ahmeabad ...gandhi nagar.....etc etc just quoting from 2002 riots...and in past i neeli bar in assam..bihar ...madhiya pardesh..kanpur....nagpur....andlist goes on....is the same ratio of 1/15 happened in pakistan although hindhus are just few millions... as compared to more than 150 millions muslims in India...... similarly if land-ratio is applied ...even then pakistan has no such incident.......

brother..i am not against hindus..or india..all are human beings...but i cannot say night a day !!!!!!

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

^ dear... last thing I want is to start a debate which may sound like I am some anti-Muslim thing.

Sticking to the topic about condition of minorities in Pakistan, I read a few months back Asian Human Rights Commision report, the Hongkong based organization,
A brief summary of the report related to minorities is as follows:

The minorities are still in a vulnerable condition in Pakistan despite the claims from government that they have equal constitutional rights. **During the year 2006, four Churches, five mosques of the minority Ahmedi sect of Islam, two temples of Hindu community were burnt or attacked or destroyed in different parts of country, most of them in Punjab province. **Under the Law of Blasphemy* 10 Christians, 4 Ahmedis were killed in different attacks by fundamentalists. Altogether 49 members of Ahmedi sect and 110 members of the Christian community are facing trials or are in prisons on charges of desecrating the holy book, the Quran. There are** 35 reported cases** of forcibly conversion of religious minority groups.*

The above report is the official report, which actually government approved agencies provide to Human Rights Commission, In actual, you will agree there will be many un-reported cases or the cases which government doesnot consider favorable to report to HRC.

I still request not to compare minorities in Pakistan with minorities in India, in order to justify above, it will require a sperate debate with thorough knowledge of Population of minorities including the status of Zoroastrians, Shikhs, Christians and a few no. of Jews in India (yes they are theminorities in true sense).

Yeah, bcoz u know things are much worse for minorities in India.

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

If a person declares himself an athiest, I have heard can be tried under blasphemy law? Now is that true?

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

Name one so called extremist mullah who "did" terrorist attacks on minorities????

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

My question in post # 9 is still not answered, should I take it as one part of the minority has no chance in Pakistan?

Sticking to the topic, I think you highlighted the wrong things. The sentence in bold above doesen’t make sense. Does the writer think that laws give fundamentalists license to attack some one?

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

Allow me to tell you how blasphemy law is abused:

The whole Christian teaching is against the Holy Quran and sayings of the Holy Prophet of Mohammad. If Christians may not commit blasphemy against the Islamic teachings but the faith and creed of the Christians which is not in the conformity of the Holy Quran and Holy Prophet Mohammad, thus Christians are accounted to be blasphemers. In this situation the Christians have no religious freedom at all. They can neither profess their religious dogmas and creeds, nor can they propagate their faith, nor even exchange the religious ideas or feelings. The Christians feel completely insecure in the presence of this law.

Basically any non muslim can be tried under this law for blasphemy just for believing in his/her own religion.

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

People from Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Sipa Shaba were invloved in attacks on churches and killing christians in Bhawalpur, Islamabad and Karachi!

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

Mullahs wont spare him/her as he/she would be a murtad!

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

^ again wrong ..only a government srictly islamic can take action against it..not any "mullah" ...like government of abu bakr(ra) took action ....

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

by the way ahmedi ...as thier fore-faters themselves admit that he is the plant rooted by the British...they always create disturbances in Pakistan...thier bleesings are lso with Israel ..as thier ulema are also in Israel for Tableegh....they cut the roots by saying that they are just another sect of islam as many other sects..but thats not the case..tey cannot enter the makkah or madina....i am not saying some "mullahs" doing that is correct..but these cases arevery rare..hardly anyone heard in a yera or a two..... but ahmedis are not "angels".....

Re: Minorities in Pakistan.

Yes, discriminatory laws that target minorities are being down away with slowly, and they are being appointed to the highest positions. It is all a great achievment of President Musharraf's vision.
