Minorities in muslim countries

How do you feel they are generally treated? Compared to minorities in other parts of the world?

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

Every country has a different story. I live in Qatar so I can only talk about Qatar. Your race and religion count for very little in this country. It's your socio- economical class that matters the most. So yeah, mostly, no different to any other capitalist country in the world. Enough said!

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

The Rich and Famous are also a Minority, they are well treated every where!

The Indians(Natives of America) are a Minority here in USA and we all know they have Reservations for them.

does that answer your question?

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

Muslims have 'Muslim Personal Law' in India.

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

What's that about?

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

^ Muslims in India can opt Muslim Personal law for their cases and they will be judged accoding to Shari'a. a Muslim can also choose to have his case judged according to laws in a civil court. Muslims often exploit this choice. shaadii ke maamile meN Muslim Personal Law unko yaad aa jaataa hai aur jab property taqseem karne kaa waqt aataa hai to civil court chale jaate haiN.

BJP and other parties are against it because they say that Muslims should have only one choice. either sharia or civil laws. NOT both and i AGREE with it.

btw, criminal justice system is same for ALL Indians.

Thanks. Didn't know the specifics.

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

okay, that got me confused because the thread was about *minorities in muslim countries. *

Re: Minorities in muslim countries

Worse in Pakistan at least. Burning down people's homes has to be in the top 5 of heinous crimes against minorities. And it's not even about the big incidents but the smaller day to day ones that must irk.

We had Indian Sikh guests and pretty much every police guy stopped them. It was then I knew why none of the Pakistan Sikhs wear turbans in day to day life. Like dudes in my uni keep their hair in a pony. Can you imagine being asked for your passport everything you step out of the house.

The following article compares the (current/former) treatment of the Bahá’í population in Pakistan, to that of their (current/former) treatment in Iran:
