Ministries

I think one reason that Pakistan fails to progress is that our government fails to give right people right portfolios. Ministries are awarded just for the sake of it and not on the basis of expertise. Granted we dont have technocrats in our politics but still… can’t they give positions to people with a tiny bit of vision?

Raja Pervez: From power to IT. (nowadays he is granting millions of funds to entrepreneurs if they promise projects which will get votes for PPPP)
Naveed Qamar: Power to Defence Ministry
Ahmad Mukhtar: Defence to Power
Ch Nisar: Petroleum Minister

What credentials do these guys have? I also know that its our bureaucracy and secretaries of ministries that usually have the vision but why not ministers themselves?

Isnt it rather hilarious, yet sad?

Re: Ministries

Nisar is Opposition leader.
Not a minister .

Re: Ministries

Not just for the sake of it. Ministries are awarded based on how much expertise you have in expropriating as much money as possible from that ministry. Jiye Bhutto.

Re: Ministries

^ and if you prove your worth in one you are promoted to another one where there are more avenues for value addition. :)

Re: Ministries

In terms of profile, it is a huge ministry which manages projects worth billions of rupees. Its Universal Support Fund (USF) is worth nearly Rs60 billion. Mr Ashraf is again be sitting on a goldmine ...

Re: Ministries

Shh... Hazrat rental ashraf Ki shaan main gustaakhi :(

Re: Ministries

This is precisely my point. He is tasked with bringing votes for PPP through IT projects in rural areas... But the guy has no vision at ALL!

Only capable (or an efficient person in his field) is Hafeez Shaikh.

Re: Ministries

He used to be a petroleum minister in Nawaz Govt. no? Thats what I meant in my earlier post.

Similarly these days we have Dr Asim Hussain (He is a frikkin medical doctor) as petroleum minister. :k:

Re: Ministries

How about a ministry we actually need? | Asia News – Politics, Media, Education | Asian Correspondent

…1. We have a Ministry of Defence AND a Ministry of Defence Production. These should be one government department.
2. We have a Ministry of Commerce, a Ministry of Industries, a Ministry of Textile Industries, a Ministry of Economic Affairs and Statistics, a Ministry of Privatization, a Ministry of Production, AND a Ministry of Professional and Technical Training (?). These should all be one government department.
3. We have a Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, a Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, AND a Ministry of States and Frontier Regions. These should all be one government department.
4. We have a Ministry of Information Technology AND a Ministry of Science and Technology. These should be one government department…

Re: Ministries

all we are missing is a ministry of ministries. with so many ministries, we need a ministry to manage these ministries.

 :chai:
