‘Minister’s attitude’ forces two jobless PPP workers to suicidal protest

One is PPP activist and other one is mqm ativist. Both PPP and mqm ditching their workers. I wonder what happened to open kachehris operated by late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who usually gave employment to candidates with hope of living. I don’t know what happened to his motto of roti, kapra aor makan. Zardari and Altaf Bhai should take notice of such incidences particularly in rural areas of Sindh where people are living in disgusting poverty level.:frowning:

DADU, May 1: Desperate as they were after failing to meet Senior/Education Minister of Sindh Pir Mazharul Haq, belonging to Dadu, in Karachi to seek government jobs, two poor activists of the PPP tried to commit self-immolation in Pyaro Goth on Saturday.

However, timely intervention of police saved their life but they were arrested, to be released later in the day.

Imdad Hussain Chandio, resident of Huzoor Chandio village, Dadu taluka; and Noorullah Morai, resident of Ali Haider Morai village of the same taluka, had returned home on Friday night from Karachi where they had gone to seek government jobs through Pir Mazhar.

Talking to this correspondent on telephone from the police station, Imdad Hussain said that he had passed Secondary School Certificate examination in 1988 and was an active member of the PPP. He said that he had two children but due to financial constraints, he was unable to educate them. He said that his two brothers were also jobless and their family lived below poverty line.

He said that his family had remained associated with the PPP since the days of its founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, adding that he himself was an active member of the party.

Imdad Hussain said that he had rendered sacrifices for the party and had been imprisoned along with the PPP’s Dadu district president Rafiq Ahmed Jamali, now state minister for food and agriculture, during the second tenure of PML-N government in 1990s.

He said that he had acted as a polling agent of Pir Mazhar in Pyaro Goth polling station during last general elections.

He said that he had contacted local PPP leaders as well as Pir Mazhar to seek a government job but in vain. He said that he had gone to Karachi more than once to meet the education minister but to no avail.

Three days ago, Imdad Hussain said, he again went to Karachi to meet the minister but failed. He said that he requested the servants of the minister to allow him to remain at the gate of the minister’s residence so that he may approach him when Pir Mazhar came out of his house but he was not allowed to do so.

He warned of observing hunger strike at the mausoleum of Ms Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bux if he was not provided job.

Noorullah Morai alleged that the private secretaries of the minister were “selling government jobs.”

When contacted, Mr Dawach said that two cousins of Imdad Hussain had been provided government jobs: Rafique Ahmed Chandio that of police constable and Nizam Hussain Chandio that of clerk in education department.

**Mr Dawach said that Imdad Hussain and Noorullah Morai were not PPP activists, and added that the latter was a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, lived in Kotri and had come to Pyaro Goth a few days ago.
