The game is very easy and addictive.
There are certain number mines (bombs) you have to discover, depending on the mode of game you are playing.
In above game, 32 bombs need to be discovered in 999 seconds. Once the bomb is discovered you put a flag on it. If you not sure, put a question mark.
The numbers you see give you hint that there are that numbers of bombs around them. For example, Number 1 tells us that there is 1 bomb around it.
You double-click on that number to see how many boxes/mines it covers. Normally a number covers 8 boxes. So if a number is 3 and you double-click on 3, that means there are 3 bombs around 3 in those 8 boxes.
Randomly click anywhere to open wide the space. Most of the times a number covers only that number of boxes (the rest are wide open) so you know if you double-click on 3 and it covers only 3 boxes, all those 3 are bombs, flag them.
