today i heard something on Ptv which left me stunned for a good five minutes. there was this drama " shaher-e-murad", where a bunch of guys in a hostel were singing “aadat” and suddenly the door opened and daddy dear (of one of the guys) entered n said “Band karo yeh K*N**R khana”. never have i heard this word or this kind of langauage on Ptv. this drama was aired in the 8 o’clock slot of the prime time. and this slot is viewed by families ( including children)!
i too was watching this drama with my 8 year old cousin.
whats got into Ptv? what does Mr shaid masood wants?
he has already done enough damage to Ptv news, and now its Ptv Home on his agenda. mind you, this drama was an inhouse production of PTv lahore centre.

Re: Mind your language........ Ptv!
In 80's, I was watching a PTV drama in which Touqeer Nasir was acting, and there was a scene when he was pissed off about something .. and he uttered the behen ki gaali
I have no idea why it was never edited ..
Also, in late 80's Islamabad PTV did a live show hosted by Nazia and Zohaib .. and a guy shouted some really low life obscenity, Not only that it was never edited but when EMI released a cassette of that show, that shout was part of that

Well I beg to disagree Sir. Indeed all sorts of people are part of the Pakistani diaspora but this does not mean that we can use all the abusive words on tv in prime time hours. Media is a way of educating people. Women and children watch tv soaps and children pick up how to react to different situations by watching same scenarios on tv. I am sure all of us have learned some of our mannerisms from tv, good or bad. Producers at PTV could have toned down the effect of these abusive words by using alternative words like 'behudgi' or 'besharmi'. If the situation really demanded the use of this word, the voice oculd have been edited and aduls would have guessed from face expressions or lipsing as to what the 'father' said.
I don't know what is happening to civilised television these days. One of the many ill-effects of globalisation I suppose.

My dear friend, it's not Common English Law (airing a gali once in 80s doesn't mean it is acceptable to say foul words on tv again and again)...Two wrongs don't make a right... If indeed Tauqeer Nasir swore on tv, it was a faux paus then and it should be a considered a faux paus now... I have heard teenagers even appreciate Hamza (Ali Noor's brother) for that 'gali-filled' song of his... What a shame!
Re: Mind your language… Ptv!
i came into this thread thinking that ptv had started re-runs of hte show ‘mind your language’
Re: Mind your language........ Ptv!
Who has seen Javeria Jaleel's drama on Geo, I don't remember the name but I saw one episode last week. Women in this drama use words like Manhoos, Kameenay, Kambakhat etc etc in almost every line. TV is a powerful media we should use it to educate/entertain our people.
Pehlay hee TV per Urdu ka itna bura haal hai, aur rahee sahee kasar yeh khawateen aur hazraat is dramay mai nikaal rahay.

naach gana karney walon ka koe aur bhi naam hai? That word is not abusive, it defines a particular breed in South Asia and those who are in the showbiz and film industry.

her drama reflects her low IQ level.
