Million dollar questions for non-believers

Why are we here on this planet for such a short time ?

Where were we (for centuries) before coming to this planet ?

Where would we (our soul) go after we die ?

What is the purpose of our life ?

p.s. If anyone of you get frustrated and unsatisfied by not able to answer these questions, kindly don’t consider committing suicide (joking ;p), Just enter Islam, and inshaAllah Allah would bless you towards the answers to these questions.

Re: Million dollar questions for non-believers

Sanathana Dharma answers all these questions very clearly. While there are several schools that have emerged over time (eg Dvaita an Advaita) the basic percepts should be sufficient, if you seek to understand them, to answer such questions.

And you also have to realize that my correct answer may or may not be exactly the same for you or anyone else since Sanathana Dharma is at a personal context in many ways.

Your first three questions are actually the same in different words. The answer I will give you is that the our atma is here for a very long time for some spanning numerous birth-life-death-rebirth cycles; for others it is a short overall duration. Difference between the two? It is to do with how well they chose and understand their dharma and how well they discharge them. The karmic cycle.

The purpose of life - the answer differs based on which meaning of life. For example if you mean it in the sense of 'not death', the answer is very simple - we need a life to live. Without life you cannot live!

OTOH if you mean by life, the 'way' we live, obviously the purpose will vary with the type of life one lives. For example, the purpose of a cobbler's life is to make and mend shoes; that of a stock broker is to make money trading in shares etc.

Now, if instead of 'professional life', you want to look at at from a 'community life', again it will depend upon roles. For example the purpose of leader, warrior, artist etc should be self explanatory from a community point of view.

Re: Million dollar questions for non-believers

how does it follow that the karmic cycle requires some entity to control the universe?

but if you think I don't believe in god, no I do believe in god. I just don't think the entire universe is controlled.

Re: Million dollar questions for non-believers

1)You say life is short....... compared to what?

2)Nowhere
