millie beauty parlour?

Re: millie beauty parlour?

if brides look like they have atta on their face, i think its mainly because the makeup artist doesn't know what she's doing, and less so because the products are cheap.

and remember too, people have different tastes in wedding makeup- i know a makeup artist and she told me people used to come to her with pictures of really fair indian actresses and request makeup like theirs, when they've got serious tans and bad skin and all sorts of other issues. to me, thats really weird; to them, it was their dream makeup. as harsh as it sounds, to an extent, a makeup artist is also only as good as the canvas she's working with. now why she'd choose those pics for her portfolio, thats the real question.

Re: millie beauty parlour?

thats what my makeup artist used too on my wedding! it looked totally natural and the pics came out fab!

Re: millie beauty parlour?

It was something with a K ... kryon or something like that. the rest of the stuff was not theatrical .... cause it was L'Oreal. Very, very, very basic drug store stuff. Like that's why I took my own MAC products cause I asked her before hand.

On other brides, who came in on their mendhi to discuss their make up for their shadi, she did their foundation with Maybelline. Like I literally watched her and that was the base she was planning on using on them for their wedding ... Maybelline, L'Oreal and that Kryon or whatever it is called stuff. Her brides look good in photos, but not in person.

Even after that, you have to really blend the make up well other wise it looks very cakey and it wasn't blended. That's another thing I had to do myself. I am really particular cause I know make up and how it is supposed to look.

After seeing her use maybelline on other brides, I refused to let her put it on me cause I saw the other brides and some looked good and others didn't ... very much a hit and miss with that kry stuff .....

ok so I paid 18,000 plus extra for services. Totally not worth it. Special bridal facial was like 5,000 more and ... she used St. Ives products which you can get anywhere. There wasn't anything spectacular about the way it was being applied ... I can't believe I paid 5,000 for Wal-Mart products I don't even use in canada.

Anyway, I used all my own make up ... my fake eye lash was falling off half way through the night. It wasn't put on properly and I told her when I was at the parlour that there is something wrong with this. Nobody listened, of course. I made sure not to touch it but it was still starting to come off.

I came home and changed the bottom eye make up cause she wouldn't listen to me when i said kajol on the bottom of my eyes would look like crap, and i had to remove it all and redo it.

Sanitation .... for 18,000 i expect CLEANLINESS. I am really too fussy. Don't use the same sponge on my face that you used on 10 other people and that has just been picked up off the floor.

The workers cannot be blamed cause Mee Lee herself has trained them. They have no other qualifications, no schooling, cause I asked them .... so they are really only doing what they are told.

I came from canada with high expectations and was super disappointed. I am good with make up so I was able to fix everthing up myself. Shukar hai, I looked good, mashallah se on my shadi and mendhi, lekin that is only thanks to me. :D

^ Oye hoye shadi mubarak! :hugz:

Re: millie beauty parlour?

ok so I had my walima make up done with Daniella's ....

WOW ... she is soo good. The fact that her salon is clean, that itself speaks volumes. Her make up was all professional, didn't have to use my own, and she did such an excellent job. I really felt like a bride that day.

So, if you have to choose, dump Mee Lee and go with Daniella's. :)

Loved the review mehnaz, and congrats on the wedding.

Btw, I had the same problem with the the false eyelashes coming off during the wedding, but put it down to me crying during my rukhsati (don't ask!)

Re: millie beauty parlour?

The KRY stuff is Krayola's TV stick. It looks good with our complexions. Things is nowadays the emphasis is not to change the complexion and leave it like it is. But people still think fair is beautiful so when a bride sits on stage with her natural look people say oh she's not pretty she's tan. Of course girls who are natuarlly fair don't have that problem. Its horrible I agree but even quite eduacted people in Pakistan still think fair is beautiful.

Re: millie beauty parlour?

Congrats Mehnaz hugs Can you please email pics, I can't wait to see!

Can you give me Daniella's contact info, please. Or recommend anyone in the pindi/islamabad area.

Re: millie beauty parlour?

Mille is good i have to admit!...but what pissed me off was when i wanted an inch of my hair off and the snobby cow said 'no' take 2 off!... she won;t bother with your opinions- try nighar in Pindi, my french cousins got there bridal make-up done from there, shes quite good.
