Re: Milkshakes?
can someone give me a good date shake recipe I plan to make it for iftar today :D
I make date and almond shake........for 3 to 4 glasses i take about 8 pitted madjool dates and half mug of freshly peeled almonds. Put the almonds and dates in blender with just quarter to half cup of milk and whizz it till everything is crushed and moxed well then add rest of the milk, 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar and ice and whiz it again. there is no need to add icecream or condensed milk as this milkshake itself is very rich . If you add all the milk in one go the dates and almonds wont crush well.

Jazak Allah :)
I try not to add ice cream. It's fine for growing kids who need some
Meat on their bones. Hubby and I certainly don't need more padding. I typically blend whatever fruit I have on hand Tha does not have water content like watermelon, honey dew. I will blend fresh banana, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, dates, and a few almonds with some skim milk and some half cup of fruit yogurt. It is delicious, and very healthy. Of course you could use whole milk or ice cream but depends how want to control your caloric intake. These milkshakes turn out delicious. They should however be consumed immediately or they wl get watery.
Re: Milkshakes?
A fruit milkshake is gonna be full of sugar anyway. And most fruit yoghurts are not exactly free of sugars and stuff either.
However you look at it, these things are treat drinks.
If we're making mango milkshake, I do use a little icecream to provide flavour and sweetness. If you're making a proper milkshake (not a smoothie or iced juice type drink) you do need icecream. You can buy icecream that has less crap in it and is better quality (therefore you need less and it tastes better)... it's just a bit more expensive.
