Milk arrangement in Pakistan

Hi everyone, I am off to pakland for three weeks. This is an emergency trip and I havnt been able to look around or research on possible fresh milk replacement I can get in the UK.

Any recommendations for milk powder that I can take along for him?

Does anyone here have any experience of being in the same boat? ( going to pakland with a two year old ) , how did you deal with the milk issue?

Any advise on things I can keep in mind please?

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

My kid was not able to digest any Pakistani milk when he went around the same age as your son ( and he has no issues with dairy otherwise), milkpak and other tetra paks did not help at all. The imported Nido milk was the one he was able to tolerate a little bit. Try and take it with you if you can. I don't know where in Pakistan you are going but i went to Karachi and got teh same at Time Medico in Karachi in KDA.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

we went last january with our daughter ... she was two and it was her v first trip. I was really afraid (mentally prepared) that she'd be sick and was really really concerned about the milk issue because she was/is big on milk.
anyhoo i asked @prototype for advise and recommendations. she recommended ... KDD, lacnor or almarai .... available at al fateh and jalal sons i believe she said.
we ended up using lacnor and alhumdulillah ... it went v v well. No sickness/digestive issues at all. Ofcourse I stuck to basics .. like no uncooked food, bottled water as well etc...

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

I have used nido powder or olpfers pack.

you check out rent_a_maejh program. Very affordable.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

I took powdered growing up formula milk for toddlers . And some ready made cartons for the travelling. I use aptamil but toddler and growing up formula is available in all makes; SMA and cow and gate also have their versions. There is 1-2 year old and 2-3 years.

I didn't trust the milk out there, my daughter was 3.5 when we went in February. I didnt want to be dealing with a sick child and baby, so i was over cautious. Don't know what I will do next time we go as she will be too old to use that milk. I took 2 boxes for 1 month.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

I went last year and used Almarai. Alhamdullah didn't have any issues

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

I always but milk pack or nido works perfectly.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

For over a year age use any good brand Stage 3 milk which is off course powdered. If you are into fresh milk then go for Anhaar. Readily available everywhere.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

My parents used to take Nido for us while visiting Pakistan in the 80s, and till this day I have hard time letting go of it....yes I'm a grown ass kid :-/
but from my past trips I have seen it at al-fateh or any reputable stores/pharmacies must carry it also. If you do end up using powder milk, make sure you use cooled boiled water

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

My kids drank the "fresh full fat milk" in plastic packets from gourmet. We boiled it at home and cooled it in pans. No sickness at all which was a huge relief.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

CB hope you had a good trip and all was well!
What milk did you end up using?
We're off in march so any advice re milk is greatly appreciated.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

Hi Saheli, apologies for delayed response, I just returned from my trip yesterday evening.

I ended up taking three boxes of Cow and Gate growing up milk. I am glad I took them coz initially I tried Al Marai and lacnor packs for a week , but he had a horrible tummy ache and Loose motions. I then immediately stopped all those milk packs and started him on the Cow and Gate milk powder and he seemed to do fine with it.

I recommend you take the milk with you , if you go to the store and look around you will see the options for your baby. Its better to carry the milk rather then manage an ill child. Not all kids respond well to the milk options available locally.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

Just wanted to know if you boiled the milk packs before giving them to your child? I don't know what I will do next time we go as my daughter will be too old for powdered growing up stage milk like we did last year when we went. She has a very sensitive stomach so I know she probably won't be able to drink the milk paks.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

The pakistan bought milk packs? yes I did .. but it didnt do any good to the kid .

I suggest you take with you a nido pack .. its best for grown up kids. My parents used to carry a huge dabba for us kids and it worked well with boiled water.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

Thanx. Better to be well prepared than dealing with a sick child. Everyone laughed at me when I took growing up milk for my 3.5 year old daughter last year. But I didn't let it bother me, it was gonna be me that would have to deal with a sick child.

Re: Milk arrangement in Pakistan

Thanks for the reply CB!
I think my little one is too old for the growing up milk...... he's really picky and wasn't very keen on it.
We've just been to Doha and he quite happily drank Al Marai there. I guess I'm just concerned the quality may not be the same in Pakistan.
I'm going to give the nido milk a go here first.hopefully he'll take it.
thanks again. ....hope your trip was okay! !!
