Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Except the combat ships, every other equipment is half in number. Considering that Pakistan buys weaponry of similar technical platform, Pakistani budget is one-seventh of Indian

Second is strength of personnel, with population of pakistan is 18 crore with 6 lakh millitary, while Indian population around 110 crore in 2008, with 12 lakh. I think military is biggest employer of labour in Pakistan

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

like our railways

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Yes we have railway, possibly the most effective system of transportation.
But one this is astonishing, with just one-seventh of our budget, Pakistan can maintain one half of Indian strength :)

PS: Our Budget now is $40 Billion

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Except the combat ships?

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

We have combat ships more than 8 times of Pakistan, in rest we are almost double in strength

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

lol

how many of those are mig 21s and old tanks, artillery guns used by army is pretty old
guess it will take another 5-7 years before first batch of rafale's arrive

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

well.. this is because the pakistani defence budget on paper is only part of the actual budget. money is allocated under things like “information technology” and gets spent in places like “azad kashmir”. :hehe:

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Well, no offence, but one has to watch out for “queer” neighbours

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Pakistan is ahead of India in terms of the modern AWACS aircraft. The use of AWACS planes is extremely important in modern warfare as they are equipped with radar and can give information about enemy planes, ships and missiles. India currently has only three AWACS while Pakistan has nine of these planes. :jhanda:

Pakistan is reported to have 90 to 100 nuclear warheads while India has about 80 warheads.

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Awww great. Another Pakistan Vs India thread. You guys want to get me permanently banned. Sister Huma is already on my case. Is this a setup? I am keeping my mouth shut before one of our good neighbors get offended and reports me again...

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

I'm not sure how accurate the nuclear warheads aspect of the inventory is as I believe I have read that Pakistan is very close of overtaking the UK in nuclear warheads and they have far more than India.

Pakistan military is more than in proportion than what it should be to keep the strategic balance.

Someone mentioned the combat ships? Although India has 8x more it is still in proportion in terms of the length of coastline each country enjoys.

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

Modern warfare is all about air power..pakistan is doing pretty well in that...everything else is a waste of money since we have nukes..more nunkes than India..so having 2x the tanks not going to stop Delhi from glowing green if it becomes necessary...the way I see it..Pakistan is doing o.k...because of 1. NUKES ( the great equalizers) 2. Air power.

Re: Military Strength - Pakistan vs India

I think it is a fair assumption to make that Pakistan can not compete conventionally with India. India employs the tactic of throwing soldier after soldier into the battle field as they can afford the losses as to speak. Whereas Pakistan can't do the same or at least not in the same proportion. India also has many drawbacks as a large army such as having poor logistical infrastructure. However, geographically it does enjoy depth However, the two most important cities of Delhi and Mumbai are well within reach.

Pakistan does have decent air power but for how long? India is fast upgrading its air power which will be superior and the only way to combat that is to have a system in place with top of the range radars and anti-aircraft, anti-ballistic batteries located strategically. A positive for Pakistan is it's American combat planes are better than Indian fighters. Yes, the Sukhoi is a top of the range plane but in my opinion its overrated. It is not as consistent as the F-16 and has not seen combat as much as the F-16, being a tried and tested fighter.

Pakistan also possesses excellent ballistic, cruise missiles are on par if not better than its counterparts. Now all we need is a a top radar coverage with 'Iron Dome' style system.
