military/civilian scope optics

so yeah, i always had something for fulfilling the optics-crush.. my recent purchase last year from my employer’s sale was a military-styled 8x40 binoculars.. apparently they worked pretty good..

lately i’ve noticed the zooming/focusing is getting pretty hard.. plus its heavy as hell.. so i did some homework in market..

so far the binoculars are available (for civilians) are in x21, x35, x40, and in x50 mm lenses..i do have spotted a few deals on ebay waghaira that are selling old marine binoculars (x70 and x80 mm lenses) which are PRETTY sweeeet but BUYING guarentee isnt there..

so far i’ve my mind set on this one:

Bushnell 20x50 Powerview Porro Prism Wide Angle.

Field of View at 1000 yards: 170’ (which is PRETTY darn impressive)
Weight: 30 oz. (again, pretty sweet, compared to my 8x40’s weight)

comments, feedback, point of views?

nikon makes some high-performance bincoulars too but their 16 and 12x50 ones are atleast 30 bucks more than bushnell..

just wondering,
what do u use it for?
bird spotting, plane spotting, peeple spotting ;) :p
not my field, but I think since it s not that expensive you can buy anny one that fits your criteria :)

pra people spotting = bird spotting sheesh

usually i use these binoculars for traffic/car.. its a great view from my 9th floor and 2 MAJOR BUSY roads meet where i live.. then there are apartment buildings in all four corners, so i do the people-watching a lot too.. if i am not going to play cricket, i watch the friends from my window too.. occasionally i spot some bird sitting on the dish antennas on 18th floor's roof ..

took these binoculars to junoon concert too.. thats when i realized they werent really all that for low lighting.. 50mm lenses are better for lowlights, dim lights conditions.. 40mm is kinda not suitable..

Galileo 20x60

field of view: 156’ at 1000 yds.

hmmmmmm.. price is about same.. just dont hear galileo that much than bushnell..:konfused:

neah man, for that i am saving up for a $1100 USD nightvision scopes.
