Militants hang 8-year-old boy in southern Afghanistan

Re: Militants hang 8-year-old boy in southern Afghanistan

And on what are you basing the conclusion that the drones are targeting anyone other then those subhumans?

No one supports the deaths of innocent people. That goes without saying, although the moral grounding of our bearded brigades raises some eyebrows.

There is no such thing as a collateral free war. No war has ever had zero collateral damage. Such is the nature of war. Innocents suffer in all conflicts. To believe otherwise is to be naive.

The nature of War is also such that it involves entire regions. Conflict is never confined to a single area. Punishing criminals often means inadvertently punishing those they surround themselves with. Regardless of whether the Drones are used or not, the entire region would still have been assaulted. How many people have died in the conflict between the Pak Army and Taliban that didnt involve drones? The people of South Waziristan are yet to return to their homes, and Swat is yet to see peace.

The drones of are a horrible aspect of war, but they are a lesser evil. The Taliban have killed far more people in their war, and the deployment of Pakistans Army has meant far more destruction and displacement then the drones.

The ideal solution to all this is to not have war at all, but this war is one that must be fought, and such criminals must be punished. In this context, the drones are a much lesser evil and mean far fewer casualties and far less displacement and destruction. Its a cold calculation, but such is the reality of war. Or would you prefer the Pak Army go in and diplace the entire population, and destroy their town and homes completely? Or should we perhaps let murderers go unpunished?
