Milaad menu

I am having a milaad in Rabi ul Awal and would like the menu to be really special. All the guests are desi girls, no aunties.

I want the food to be desi and spicy but not the usual pulao and salan etc.

any suggestions?

Re: Milaad menu

ok then try a spicy biryani, nihari wid nan,n baked noodles wid chkn ect seekh kabab, russian salad, mong daal wid boil eggs, gur k chawal(not zarda really) n fruits wid cream n ice cream topping over it....the all obove menu will b rock..really...shart ye hay k sab kuch banana paray ga..

Re: Milaad menu

Its actually a one dish gathering :) so I just need to provide my guests with a menu which they choose from. Dont want food items to be random so it will be nice with a desi menu thats yummy and also easy for my guests to make. Nihari might be too much for the girls I think.

I am thinking of biryaani (making it myself), channa chaat, allu tikkis, dahi bhadde, pakore, seekh kebab, naan, some sort of salan????

For dessert: fruit with ice cream, cup cakes, desi dessert (like kheer, ras malai or something like that)

Or should I change some of the items?

Re: Milaad menu

well how many girls are there so we can come up with a number of suggestions?

aloo ki tayari (the only reason why im suggesting a veggy rice dish is cuz everything is else is chicken or meat.. will be nice to have a mix rather than protein in everything)

chickpea chicken salan

seekh or shami kebabs or koftay

dhai baray or dhai bhoondi

fruit chaat

some kinda cake or custard with jello

falooda or ras malai

Re: Milaad menu

Aloo ki TaheRi :yummy: put some peas in it please

Re: Milaad menu

You have enough of the side/appetizer dishes like chana chaat, aloo ki tikkiyan, dahi baray, pakoray, etc.

The desserts are okay (you have a combo of desi n non-desi)

You're making the rice dish (in the form of biryani)

You have a dry meat dish (in the form of kababs)

So for the salans.....assign someone a meat salan (like meat with curry) and a veggie salan. So, two salans. And then I think it would look more balanced.

Re: Milaad menu

Haleem with (tandoori) rotis... :)

Re: Milaad menu

chameeli pakore n allu tikki leave these...channa chat is okk..btw u mixing ur meal menu with tea menu..?nihari is so easy to make wid nihari masala packs...n taste turns also gud..dats y i said...n sweets me instead of 3 go for only 2 dishes...3rd could b only fresh cut fruits...or 2 enough i think..

Re: Milaad menu

Plans changed. I am not inviting any girls at home. am too exhuasted due to pregnancy.

Instead hubby's friend wants to come for a small gathering and make dua. he said no food but i want to serve something at least

should it then be tea and stuff? what can I serve with chai?

Re: Milaad menu

chana chaat--easy to make
cookies
mix fruit bowl

Re: Milaad menu

samosas

chanay ki chaat

cake

biscuits

Re: Milaad menu

yaar just give him some biscuits, dry fruit and chai. and let the men be merry.

Re: Milaad menu

This sounds like an easy option:) I think I will do this and add freshly baked muffins to this.

And adding readymade samosas that I can bake in the oven.

that should be fine
