Migration

:salam2:

We read in Islamic History that many Prophets a.s., migrated due to various reasons, among manys, one is the freedom of practice of religion. My questions are:

1- If a Muslim lives in a country where practice of religion is difficult or forbidden due to whatever reason, shall that Muslim migrate to any other country, where it is allowed?

2- Isn’t migration given us a message that we should migrate, rather than waiting with hope that one day we will be given permission to practice our religion freely?

3- If ‘No’ to above two, then isn’t mean that we are lacking with ‘Taqwa’?

Re: Migration

I agree that if you are being actively prevented from practicing your religion, you should try to migrate. Governments which place restrictions on Muslim religious practice have historically done so to try and stop Muslims from following the religion - examples include the restrictions on Muslims under communist rule in China, Albania and the USSR.

Having said that, most countries which have placed such limits have also prevented migration out of those countries. And even when Muslims are allowed to leave, other Muslim countries don’t let them stay.

Re: Migration

I guess you are refering to Arab countries ?

Re: Migration

Not just arab countries. The countries which have historically restricted the practice of Islam have generally had good relationships with Muslim countries, which would then not want to embarass them by hosting religious refugees.

Peace mAd_ScIeNtIsT,

So I assume your comments in negation. Isn’t that mean we are lacking of ‘Taqwa’?. By saying ‘Taqwa’ I mean ‘Taawakkal Alal Almighty Allah’.

Re: Migration

I'd like to see the world with Sunni Leadership over Jazeera tul Arab. The restoration of the self respect to the Ummah should produce the desired results

Re: Migration

Medina pyara pyara hai - Our Prophet is there right now, why does nobody visit him

Re: Migration

W. Salam,

I couldn’t understand what is the connection of Taqwa here?

Re: Migration

Yes. what are other options?

What I have learned from the history of prophets is that peaceful means were used to propagate and practice religion as much as possible. if there were restrictions or dangers for the practice of faith openly, then it was done privately. But if situation arises where it becomes difficult to live a normal life due to one’s faith then it is better to migrate. So whether one should migrate or not depends on the situation on ground.

Re: Migration

To practice Islam freely, the country doesn't need to be a Muslim country.

Re: Migration

Peace kchughtai,

Suppose we are living in a country where practice of our religion is not allowed, and we know that if we migrate to any other country (any) where we can practice freely, but we don't migrate due to fear of our loss of job etc. So isn't because of lacking with 'taqwa'?

That what I meant.

Re: Migration

Allah knows best...but one can easily understand his or her situation...regarding taqwa one can easily examin himself or herself...if someone feels practicing islam is hard in country but if move somewhere difficulties come for job n etc...so Allah is the provider...He can provide better than before if anything we do for the sake of Him only...

wassallam
