Migraine

I have been getting migraines ever since I was 15 years old…around mid 20s it got worse, then it got better. Now I am in early 30s and seems like the migraine frequency and intensity is getting worse. I had migraine a day before eid. It is still somewhat there esp the occular part of it is still kind of there where light is really bothering my eyes, and head ind of feel heavy and I feel out of place.

Any suggestions, experiences… please no jokes…only ppl who get severe migraines know how it feels and how limiting it can be at times.

Re: Migraine

I developed migrane last year when I was pregnant and I still get those horrible head aches some times. Last time was during 2nd week of Ramadan and it was so bad that I had to quit rozas. The pain lasted for 6 days. It was horrible throbbing pain. I used to feel as if my head is going to explode. I did nothing just took rest and after 6 days the pain was gone ( I took pain killers a couple of times).

I don't think there is any treatment for it. The best you can do is to avoid things that triggers migraine. The last migraine attack I got was triggered due to Chinese salt . I had noodles and it had chinese salt in it. A friend of mine gets it from sun light . You can also get it from stress , fatigue etc. You may also get it from excess or lack of caffeine . You need to know what causes the migraine headache in you and you need to avoid those things.

It's not at all funny. I know the pain it's killing. I wish you good health !

Re: Migraine

thanks diamond. back in mid 20s, the doctor asked me to monotor my diet, I found it it was peanut butter. I love peanut butter but can`t have it anymore. Bright days are another culprit, and so is stress. I hate migranies all I do when i have one is to close my eyes and lay dwn in a dark room.

For my when I was pregnent I thankfully and surprisingly had no migranies, and about 2 years after I had my baby I was fine, just recently I started getting them again.

Best wishes to you too...

Re: Migraine

I get terrible migraines just kills the whole day...

usually i have noticed it can be caused by hypoglycemia, so always eat on time and don't let your self get too hungry. Also sometimes if i sleep for too long then I get it especially if I sleep on one side also if i don't sleep for a long time. these are some of the triggers for me.

I usually take muscle relaxant its works fast and doesn't hurt if I take it on empty stomach.

Re: Migraine

hey dosa chick .. sorry to hear about ur migraines- Im also a migraine sufferer and like you developed them in my mid 20s and still suffer now... ive been able to look at contributing symptoms before an attack - they tend to be:
1) Lack of sleep
2) Stress/ anxiety( My work is constantly stressful)
3) Lack of a healthy diet

4) Too much sun

*I've recently been given Sumatriptan and I take a pill at the onset of a migraine- its a receptor agonist that works to reduce the swelling of the blood vessels in the head... so far alhamdolilah one pill has worked... and im trying to control my migraine attacks.. I get them so bad that Im nauseous and I cant stand daylight and just have to sleep in a blacked out room.. this medicine is available as an injection too.. try reading up on it first as its so far touch wood, really quite a powerful drug and within an hour of migraine - it disappeared!.. I totally empathise with you as migraines can affect all aspects of your life.. try and diagnose what triggers them and then keep a diary ... God Bless u *
