First the guy tried to cook a barbeque on the job (in the plane). And when it got out of control, he ditched it. Shame on him.
I suggest, a strong monetary penalty should be imposed on the buzdil pilot. That should teach him not to fly on an empty stomach and he should only enter the plane after having his lunch.
