Our family middle name is Ali. Although I had to change it for my oldest since my dad was forcing me to name her after my grand mother Umme-e-Kulsoom. As a compromise her middle name is Kulsoom.

I did something similar. My dad asked me to call my first born Abu-Bakr; as a compromise, it is now his middle-name instead the traditional one ( father’s first name )
