i was feeling adventurous so i decided to try Lebanese food at a pretty affordable restaurant nearby…is middle eastern food really so bland or did they do it just for the white folks that come there?
i’m guessing it is spicy just like south asian food, the shish kabob in the restaurant was such a disappointment i mean the indo-pak restaurant 2 hrs away had more mouth watering kabobs with actual spices compared to this stuff.
if you guys know any authentic middle eastern recipes, can you put some up . i think it was the restaurant that wasn’t authentic with its cooking so i’m going to just make it myself next time
yes middle eastern food is bland ..it just depends on ur taste buds..but its really not at all spicy...its a mild food and very tasty ..once the taste develops u can never resist...me and my hubby just love this cuisine and order most of the time!!!
Middle eastern food is not chat patta nor is it spicy in the chilli sense.
It is spicy in the aromatic sense of the word, alot of cinnamon and cloves are used for example, my best friend is syrian and I love the food she cooks...i can put a couple of recipes up.
Nisha, try moroccon food, that might be more up your street :)
MmMM reminds me of shawramas from my days at college. we had a middle eastern restuarant which was very popular and attracted hungry university students like myself that never tired of their food. maybe you need to explore at a different restuarant. don't give up! unfortunately the recipe for shawrama cannot be made at home as the meat cannot be prepared at home.

I wont call the food bland. The taste does not come from hot spices though, in fact that is what I love about middle eastern food that dont use too much spice.

well i don't mean spicy like chilli powder but i guess they don't use the same spices like tlk bhai said it's a totally different taste, they might look like us but the food is worlds apart, i love hummus and have made it before but i always thought hummus was more greek stuff. i'm going to give it another try
@inspiron , Moroccan food sounds delicious, thanks for the suggestion
