Mid Life Crisis

Re: Mid Life Crisis

TNWB, i wouldn't call it a mid life crisis..i have read that its perfectly healthy now a days to change your career 7/10 times in a life time..people get bored and they like to explore new careers and do new things.

I have gone through such states few times...and the more new fields i explore..the more content i am internally..and i say, that moving on to new things is much fun.

TNWB, Maslow is everywhere...even in grade 10 business they teach you his hierarchy theory..i wonder how come you never studied him in MBA..the same theory is applicable in many other fields of study as well.

I have an advice for you TNWB and Shahreen, maybe..you girls...shouldn't jump into a new thing all at once(like a degree program)..how about taking a certificate course as part time through continuing ed programs or via distance education..and keep on doing what you are doing currently..and if you do enjoy the new thing feel free to continue the certificate or switch to another introductory course.

Good luck!

Re: Mid Life Crisis

^ Qrius, I thin TNWB’s inquiry was more along the lines of talking more in general about the emotional state of doubt and anxiety that a person goes through in a midlife crisis.

I guess she wanted to hear from people in that late 30/early 40ish age-group who’ve gone through the boredom with their lives, jobs, or their partners  , and have felt a strong need to make changes in those areas.

Haina TNWB? :o

Re: Mid Life Crisis

Umar Talib - "MidLife Crisis" for me is not just the "boredom" with life and what one's doing but a dramatic change in career (for the worse) and making wrong decisions to lose everything (almost) which he gained during the successful phase of his life. in other words, going through a major setback.i have heard some people manage to handle it nicely and better than others hence do not suffer much. so it may not be so severe with many to even realise what it was.

Qrius - so did you did your sweetheart Maslow create any scientifict theories too? or maths theorem??? oh my bad i studied science and pre-engineering before switching on your commerce and business to "notice" him in my books. AND...... i did not say that i never studied him in MBA. i only said i hardly remember anything i read in the course (just lack of interest). kindly read my post again.

LOL and what do you know what new things i have not tried in my career?? just for your info, i started my career working with a recruitment agency then changed to work with a famous french brand. then a shipping company. then a bank cz by then i was studying finance. i was totally dissatisfied and bored with my bank job and left them to go back to pakistan and worked with an internet service provider. never liked it. came back here. worked for short duration in different companies like a satellite tv channel provider, a company responsible for conducting the premiere of hollywood movies, a major chain of hotels and DSF are few among many others before settling with my present job in the tele-com industry. and do i need to mention im not satisfied? i need to do something else. im still looking and trying.

oh but i will keep your "advice" in mind for the furture :o

Re: Mid Life Crisis

ohhhhhhh and i worked at a nursary cum primary school before joining the shipping company.

Re: Mid Life Crisis

no no no it was before joinign cartier

Re: Mid Life Crisis

TNWB, you mentioned that you want to try something. I enjoy looking at the continuing ed program calendars of different colleges. Few programs that i wouldn't mind taking in the future are as follows:

floral design, fitness leadership, interior decorating, makeup artistry, fashion design, image consulting, jewellery design and gemology and feng shui

What i like about these programs: one can be self-employed or can have something small as a side venture

:)

Re: Mid Life Crisis

“makeup artistry, fashion design, image consulting” sound the most interesting.

i was a fashion designer “wannabe” but dad thought it was silly. isnt it too late for me to start it now? i still scribble designs on empty sheets when im sitting alone. and it surprises my mom and sister. they say it looks good.

image consulting is extremely interesting. where do they conduct courses? my sister always gets ideas from me. guess i dont need a course :smooth:

but seriously, where do they have courses on image consulting?

Re: Mid Life Crisis
