Mid 2014 bride.

I’m going to be a mid 2014 bride. I have no idea where to start …

JAHEZ
I rarely wear desi clothing, and I don’t wear desi gold at all, as I find the colour being too yellow/orange.

After the wedding there are going to be dawats and a lot of people visiting us, so I want to be prepared in terms of what to wear.

My parents are giving me a medium gold set, one large gold set and a pair of karre. That’s more then enough, I think, as I probably won’t wear it. I might wear the karre though.

In terms of clothes, I don’t know where to start. What styles will be in? What colours to pick?
How many formals? How many semi-formals? How many casuals?

MEHNDI
I’m at a total loss, I have no idea what to do, where to start.

BARAT/RUKHSATI/NIKKAH
What styles will be in? What colours to go with? When to start the event? Where to place the nikkah?
After the nikkah, does he come and get me? Or do I walk out with my dad?
What traditions to include/exclude?

Also when would you recommend I start booking a MUA, venue, DJ etc?

Help!

Re: Mid 2014 bride.

I'll be a 2014 bride too, inshaAllah! I'd say first set a budget. How many suits would you need? What will be your budget? If you think you'll be going for big davats then obviously you'll need more heavier suits. I personally won't make casuals as I want to enjoy the meet-the-newly-wed gatherings and I love getting ready too. Two-three very heavy suits and rest I'll be opting for semi formals. I am not really fond of heavy kaam anyways so semi formals is what I am excited about. As for styles, I'd say everything is in. People are wearing floor lengths, people are wearing short shirts with chooridars. It's more about what's your style. As for the designs, just look at the designers pages on facebook etc and you'll get really nice ideas I am sure.

What's confusing you regarding Mehndi? As for Nikkah, it's more about family traditions. Some people do it in a Masjid, others do it on their Mehndi and many do it right before Baraat. Talk to your parents about it and other traditions.

Oh and as for the MUA, Dj, venue, it really depends on which one you pick. The most sought ones obviously need to be booked 6-8 months in advance. Some you can even book at a gap of two weeks.

Hope it helped! Good luck with your planning!

Re: Mid 2014 bride.

Thanks, that helped!

Talked to my mom, so she'll figure out the mehndi, lol.

Thanks! :)
