Microsoft's Surface

What is your take on that? I’ve been reading extreme reviews. Some say that it would be a serious competitor of Ipad (but dont they say this about every tablet?), and some think that it would blast away like Zune.

I think that its smart cover/keyboard is a pretty neat feature.

What do you say?

Re: Microsoft's Surface

I'm liking this a lot. Excellent form factor, great cover design. Price would play a big part in determining how it goes. I'm liking it overall.
Its supposed to have big bretherens following it soon. (remember CSI?)

Re: Microsoft's Surface

Lets see when it comes out (any buys?), but I think pricing would be a crucial factor. It seems it is competing with the ultrabook and iPad market at the same time.

Re: Microsoft’s Surface

Its costly Pro version will go over 1000$, i will better get two ipads. :chai:
But if Microsoft willing to lose money to win market share, well their is only company who can do it, its Microsoft.

Re: Microsoft's Surface

I like to believe that Ipad 16GB wifi is the highest selling ipad. Which means that apple has invented that sweet spot 0f $499.00. Consumers are not willing to shell anything more that that, especially for a non-apple product. MS Surface has a chance, only if they keep their price at or lower than $499.00.

About the Pro version: that is a bold move on Microsoft's part. They are targeting Enterprise level market. The problem is that wherever companies can use tablets, they are already using an Ipad. Companies, especially the giants, are very reluctant to move to a newer OS. At our company, we are just transitioning to Windows 7 and still facing glitches. How soon (if ever) will companies move to Windows 8, no one knows? If the whole market pitch of pushing Surface pro to big corporation would be to provide a mobile platform whose OS is compatible to the OS of some engineers desktop, then MS first has to pitch Windows 8 as the desktop OS before bringing in Surface as the mobile connectivity solution.

Re: Microsoft's Surface

Barring the metro version, the desktop version of windows 8 is very much like windows 7 so companies who have win 7 should not have a problem syncing this tablet with their computers. This has the potential of being a big hit, but it depends upon how microsoft makes it duffer friendly and markets it as well. I think they need a different CEO than Balmer to really market Microsoft as he is not cutting it.
