Has any one gotten this treatment?
I had one about 2 years ago and I really like it…

Re: Microdermabrasion...

did you do it yourself or get it done professionally? and how much did it cost?

I got it done at my primary care doctor and it was about $125.

I have gotten it done a couple of times, it takes a long time to see results though! But u're skin does feel super-smooth and all the dead skin vanishes!

Re: Microdermabrasion...

^^
If you get dermabrasion done, don't you have to stay indoors and avoid sunlight for about a week or two or you can follow your normal routine right after?

Yup, I've had it a few times, mainly because severe acne has totally ruined my skin over last few years, and have never been happier with any other acne remedies. It costs me $150 but I totally love the result I get after each setting. My skin has got super smooth, radiant and acne break-outs are a rarity now ALLAHUMDULILLAH. It also removes black heads and pore size shrink leaving a very smooth and healthy look.

My mom gets first phase of microdermabrasion and then goes for photorejuvination facial and MASHALLAH her skin is absolutely fantabulous! I will definitely recommend it but make sure you get it done from a certified professional.

Ohmigosh, my skin is SO acne-prone its crazy! Ive got sensitive skin and someone told me not to do Microderm because its too harsh but you say it worked so well for you right? I think I will invest in it or should I go for a glycolic peel instead?

What is photorejuvination?

PS, u shud get u're acne treated first cuz they won't do microderm if u have breakouts or active acne. I would advise u get a skin consultation done, most likely they'll do a salicylic peel on u. It works wonders for skin with active ance =) And once that's been taken care of and all u need is to lighten the marks, go for microderm.

They apply a sunsceen of spf 100 after the procedure so u can step into the sun, but avoid it as much as u can.

Re: Microdermabrasion...

A salicylic peel sounds good to me...where can I buy this? LOL Just kidding! I have an appt set up with a Derm tomorrow morning so I will definitely bring this up to him.

Thank you ladies! :)

Re: Microdermabrasion...

PS I wound not recommend MicroD for you, depending on what trigers your acne it could just worsen it.

In my opinion Microdermabrasion is costly but not worth the money as it only removes the dead cells from the surface which a person can do with regular exfoliating.

If you are planning on spending big bucks then I'd rather go for a Peel.

Salicylic Peels are less effective than Glycolic.

Just make sure that when and If you do go for peels you have to be very very careful bout your skin, the peel removes the outer layer of your skin leaving it prone to bacteria attacks.

No, they won’t do it if you have active acne. What happens to me is acne gets cleared up by itself and then flares back up. I was told that after first and second sittings, acne will get worse because whatever is inside needs to come out first and then it will go away. And that’s exactly what happened. I had used all kinds of over the counter products including all high-end ones, been put on medications but nothing worked. I’ve been satisfied with it and don’t mind coughing up that much money if it shows excellent results which microdermabrasion did.

Above is link to where I get it from and to photorejuvination facial. I’d suggest that you should consult your derma first and he/she will be able to recommend you the treatment that is best suited for you because I’ve used almost everything that market has to offer for acne and it has only wrecked my skin badly. Get professional help as soon as you can.

Re: Microdermabrasion...

i don't have major acne, i just have a bunch of blemishes and dark pigmentation here or there. should i consider getting microdermabrasion? or will one of those peels you guys mentioned help me?

Re: Microdermabrasion...

Im going to a derma tomorrow morning and will ask him all these questions...post my update in the evening!

Re: Microdermabrasion...

marwah I think green peels are for pigmentation.

You are best to get a consultation done from somewhere authentic.

What I hate hate hate bout going to these places is that they talk you into buying their prodcuts.

Re: Microdermabrasion...

has anyone used dermabression kit from loreal at home base????

alright, thanks!

Re: Microdermabrasion...

Okay, you guys were right. They wont do Microderm on me if I have active acne. But right now, I dont so its okay. Meaning, Im getting over a breakout so I dont have the angry looking pimples on my face...I have the remnants of them.

Ive already been on medication, drink tons of water, used over the counter products, tried home remedies, etc. My grandmother used to use ubtan on me when I was little and it used to work so well but now it just makes me red.

Anyway, Im starting with microderm for now. It seems like the more feasible route.

If you go to salons, thats what they do. She is right.

Go to a dermatologist and take it from there.

Re: Microdermabrasion...

Question for you ladies:

What is the difference between the at-home versions and the salon versions?

Isnt it the same thing?

The one's u can do at home are relatively milder, the one's at clinics use crystal oxide powder and have different "strength's" that work on specific target area's!
