microdermabrasion at home, anyone?

Has any one tried microdermabrasion at home? How was the experience .. any before & after pics? I am thinking of getting rid of my ever-since-I-remember acne scars, pores & pimples from it. Since I am in Pakistan, any one recommends a particular brand for it?

Don't expect anything much from at home kits.

Re: microdermabrasion at home, anyone?

i would not recommend it..even these treatments take longer when u get them done from a dermatologist..and u know never know the reactions n all. i tooo have so many acne scars on my cheeks but i didnt take risk yet to try any other treatment..so now just take care of your skin , eat healthy, keep it clean. thats it. :)

Re: microdermabrasion at home, anyone?

I was a fan of microderm - I used to go for sessions regularly but in my humbe opinion i don't think it was worth the money as i wasn't noticing great results, as per claimed with microderm anyway.

Lately, i use a weekly microdermabrasion srub from the body shop vitamin c range.

I honestly think the results from microderm can be similarly achieved with a fine granuled facial scrub once a week. In fact, there was an article somewhere in thetimes or similar, where a top facialist was claiming it was all a gimmik & that by using a good srub you can achieve similar results.

To each thier own i guess....

I had professional microdermabrasion done once before and it wasn’t worth the money imo.. Made no difference and it was expensive as well

Daffy, you should try Retin-A (esp if you don’t want the hassle of downtime from a peel or anything more major).. It increases the rate of skin cell turnover.. or like Summayyah said a scrub..

Re: microdermabrasion at home, anyone?

Thanks girls! So now what do I .. these are the problems I have with my skin presently:

  • Acne & acne scars on shoulders & back.
  • Acne, acne scars & large pores on face especially cheeks. Basically an unclear look!
  • Greasy/oily forehead
  • Dandruff & hairfall

My preference is for home-based natural remedies. I have started using:
* Ubtan + Sandalwood Powder + turmeric mixture for the acne scars on face, (not helping much)
* Icing for pores (this seems to be helping)
* Multani matti mask every 2 weeks* (gives a glow)*

I have the same problems, big scars, open pores. I dont find my face neat at all, n not to mention m too having tht shoulder n back acne prob, bt im not doing anything for thm bcox i dnt feel like anythin really helped, jb kam honay ho khud ho jtay hain without any treatment n they go worst if i strt trying something on thm , so i prefer just to keep my face clean.

Re: microdermabrasion at home, anyone?

I wouldnt go for it unless you have had it done professionally so you know how your skin reacts to it. nothing that you can buy at the drugstore will be comparable really. you can invest in a microdermabraision machine which will cost you sombrero between $200-250. NCN skincare carries one called timepeel machine that has great reviews...you can go to essentialdayspa.com and check out tons of reviews there. There's a new one that I recently found out about called PMD microdermabraison. google it

For dandruff & hairfall use Nizoral 2% shampoo, it's really good or you can use head and shoulders!
