micro sd cards

i want to buy a micro sd card online im finding some of them have class 4 or class 10 written on them , i have no idea what that means :konfused: any help please

Re: micro sd cards

For what purpose are you intending to use the SD card? If it is for simple file storage, a class 4 SD card will suffice. If you are thinking about using your SD card for shooting high definition still images of video making, you need to buy one with a higher class(10 meaning the write speed from your device -the camera for example to your SD card would be 10MBps where MBps means mega bytes per second )

Re: micro sd cards

its for my mobile phone basically i dont have enough storage space for my apps i came across a cheap micro sd card but it said class 4 and another 1 class 10 so got confused not knowing what each means so your saying class 4 is fine

Re: micro sd cards

Here is the difference:

Class Minimum Sustained Speed
2 2 MegaBytes/Second
4 4 MegaBytes/Second
6 6 MegaBytes/Second
10 10 MegaBytes/Second

Always go for class 10 since it will mean more speed for you.

Re: micro sd cards

Aaaah great lol so i have to spend more money thought i got a bargain :)

Re: micro sd cards

You might hardly notice any difference between the two classes if you are going to use it for your mobile storage. But If there isn't much price difference between the two classes, I would recommend you to buy the one with the higher class (10) just in case you think of using it for high speed read/write applications.

Re: micro sd cards

Actually you do see difference with the speeds if you want to access the files on the SD card. I used to have class 4 micro SD on my Note 3 which used to take some time for me to load playlists or pull pictures on Gallery. After upgrading to class 10 I have noticed a major difference with the files of all sorts.

Re: micro sd cards

And all that are minimum guaranteed speed, a good class 10 card will go up to 30Mbps easily.

Thanks for sharing that.
