Re: Mickey Arthur appointed as Pakistan cricket head coach

Ok this extract is important from the link. Now here is what i see:

Pros:

  1. He has a good experience in coaching on international level
  2. He coached Karachi Kings in PSL so I guess he is well-aware of how PAkistanis work and think

Cons:

  1. He was fired after senior players in SA went against him. Not a good sign.
  2. Karachi Kings were aweful in his coaching but again PSL tenure was short so we can give him some room for that.

Rest, time will tell. But a new coach always works far better with new players. So I hope we get less “Senior” players so that they dont lobby against new coach. Good luck! :k:

Re: Mickey Arthur appointed as Pakistan cricket head coach

It is work of Senior Players that we are no.9, so seniors players better take retirement and stat home...they have caused enough damage and should leave...

Re: Mickey Arthur appointed as Pakistan cricket head coach

No matter how good a coach you bring, he can't fix mediocre players.

Pak team mostly consists of mediocre players specially in batting.

Spot on :(

Re: Mickey Arthur appointed as Pakistan cricket head coach

I vaguely recall the homework saga. He punished some players for not doing assignments he had given them. That was a joke.

A disciplinarian for the sake of being a disciplinarian. Not good for team morale.

Re: Mickey Arthur appointed as Pakistan cricket head coach

Mickey has chosen the wrong time to be coach of this mediocre team imo.

Pakistan has some tough away tours to England and Australia this year.

Mickey is a bit of a disciplinarian but he has some great experience of coaching the likes of Australia and South Africa. I think he was made a scapegoat by ACB after England won the series 3–1 and retained the Ashes in Australia

He will need to understand the (mediocre) quality of our batsmen barring Younis and Misbah and temperament of players. If he can fix the batting (will decide the series outcome) he will survive otherwise knives will be out for him soon enough. Language and communication may be an issue but if we are just talking about cricket then most players will be able to follow his instructions even with limited knowledge of english.
