Michigan

I’ll be in the Detroit/Livonia area during the 4th of july weekend. any suggestions as to where to go, eat etc? where is the best place to see the the fireworks?

thanks in advance for your replies.

Re: Michigan

What is the purpose of your visit? How easy is it for you to get around?

Theres really not much in Detroit. You can perhaps go to Belle Isle. Cross the border into Windsor. Maybe take a trip to Northern Michigan, its beautiful up there. Take a 2.5 hour trip to Cedar Point in Ohio. Its said to be one of the best amusement/ride parks in North America. Also, take a shopping trip to the outlets of Birch Run.

U must eat at LaShish, Pizza Papalis. And Halal McDonalds (only the mcchicken and mcnuggets are halal). Make sure you have Ritters Frozen Custard in Livonia.

If i think up of more, i'll add more.

Re: Michigan

Unfortunately for you, Detroit holds their independence fireworks combined with Windsor before July 4th. And this year they are being held on June 28th.

Re: Michigan

Also, Baklava and Ice Cream at Shatila.

You'll find a couple of other halal restraunts in dearborn. like ram's horn. u should try them out too.

Re: Michigan

How can you forget Coldstone’s icecream yummy

You can drive up for 2/3 hours to Mackinaw Island. Its the jewel of great lakes area. You can search for the pics in Img2. If you can’t go that far, then goto Port Huron, an hour drive from Livonia 696E->94E. You can rent a power boat or yatch or get on cruise and explore the blue waters of lake Huron. Its like heaven, believe me.

Re: Michigan

thanks for the replies…

I’ll be there for a wedding (the whole 3 day thing) so i wont have much time to travel. The only full day i will have free is 4th of july. I will have a rental car so getting around wont be a problem. I was just hoping that I didnt have to travel that far to enjoy the area. :bummer:

i’ll be sure to keep those restaurants in mind. I’m look forward to going to Dearborn to hit all the halal places. sucks that i’ll be missing out on the fireworks..i was really looking forward to it. :teary1:

oh and smooth_guy we have a coldstone ice cream place here in va …and yea its yum

if you guys think of anything else plz let me know.

Re: Michigan

My in-laws live in Troy, MI. So I go back often. My mil also raves about LaShish. Go to the Somerset Mall, walk around Downtown Birmingham, and see the Detroit Museum of New Art.

Re: Michigan

will def be looking into it...thanks.
