Every time I drive by downtown Toronto, I can’t help notice and think about this monstrosity. While some would call it a modern monument, I don’t like it all that much - it’s angsty and too alienish.
Perhaps, one reason for my dislike is that I’ve spent a good six years of my youth in these downtown streets of Toronto, and appreciated the open spaces and traditional buildings. The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal just doesn’t “fit” in more than one ways.
BTW, for those who might not know, the building has been designed by Daniel Libeskind who is the leading architect for the reconstruction of the WTC in New York.
i love going to ROM, and i adore this outbursting of contemporary architecture. if i am not wrong the similar outlook is also present on Bata museum (i think its on bloor and St.George )
ROMs design not only its modern, but it also gives an invitation to space, where sky meets the earth.
