Michael Jordan turns 50.

The greatest basketball player of all time turned 50. Happy Birthday, Mike.

Re: Michael Jordan turns 50.

My childhood hero. I signed up on my school's Basketball team because I was such a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls back then.

Re: Michael Jordan turns 50.

yea they were the thing back in their times...

The thing is, I lose respect for great athletes when they are not good people. Jordan's handlers have done a good job keeping his image clean.

Re: Michael Jordan turns 50.

plus he so handsome!

Re: Michael Jordan turns 50.

True dat. Jordan is bad even by pro athlete standards. He used to terrorize and bully his teammates, and was a general all round jackass. Watch Chamillionaire's (semi famous rapper) video about how Jordan reacted when Chamillionaire asked him for an autograph. Heck, just watch his hall of fame speech. John Stockton and David Robinson were so humble and thankful while Jordan came off as vindictive and butt hurt. We get it Mike, your high school coach cut you but I think you won at basketball. It's time to let it go.

Re: Michael Jordan turns 50.

I heard Jordan punched Bill ( or will?) Perdue during practice. Yes he may have been nasty to an autograph seeker at times. If I recall his Hall of Fame may have been bitter wrt the high school cut. To me, that emotion is real. A pro athlete who puts his heart and soul into the game is allowed to be eccentric Imo.

During his rookies year MJ had a foot fracture. Against doctors advice he played in the playoffs against Birds Celtics. And scored 64. What a game that was. Pure unadulterated love for the game.

Robinson is just a great human bring. Unfair comparison.

While MJ rules and the calls he got are legend - and yes he got calls - less known is how Birds Cetics got most calls. Slow white guys fouled at will. But interpreted as "tough" defense.

Stockton and Jeff Hirnacek would be seen at the line all the time. Oppposition comes near then and gets whistled for fouls.

Stockton would play "tough" defence like the Celtics. And no foul called on him. And the media always put him on a pedestal. So bit easier not have a chip on the shoulder.
