Michael Hussey has decided to retire from international cricket at the end of the summer in Australia. The Sydney Test against Sri Lanka, which begins on January 3, will be his last Test and he will play the limited-overs games against Sri Lanka and West Indies.
Hussey’s retirement means Australia have lost two of their most experienced batsmen this summer, following Ricky Ponting’s exit after the Perth Test against South Africa. The development will lead to a significant reshaping of Australia’s middle order ahead of a tour to India and back-to-back Ashes
Hussey made a belated entry into Australia's test team at the age of 30 in 2005. It was hard to break into the all-conquering Aussie squads from 1999 to 2007
I am sure if he had made his debut 5 years earlier his name would now be mentioned in the same breath as Ponting and Hayden
I felt he could go on for another year or so. 37 is old but not very old for a 'performing' test batsman. could have retired after the two back to back Ashes next year but anyways that's his decision, one of the best batsmen of the past decade, a match winner. wish him well in his retired life
