Mice!

EEEEEEKK!!!

OK, so I have 2 big dogs. We keep their food in an airtight closed bin in our laundry area. Recently, our yellow lab was put on a special diet so we have 2 different kinds of dog food now. I kept it in the huge 30-pound bag in the laundry area and it attracted mice :frowning:

We got 3 (so far) with traps. My hubby wants me to call an exterminator and use rodenticide to get rid of them.

I dont want to do that. I got another airtight sealed bin for the other dog food and I set out the traps, clean and bleach the area every day and I think that once the mice realize that the food source is gone, they’ll stop coming in. It will take longer than rodenticide but heck I have the 3 boyz, 2 dogs and a kitty to worry about. Rodenticide is a solid, the mice eat it and eventually die - but NOT right away. If our boys or pets get a hold of a poisoned mouse or the poison itself that would be trouble. Exterminators will tell you different, that its “safe” etc but I’m just not willing to have poison around.

what do you think? Take the longer, safer way or the shorter but risky way?

Re: Mice!

The longer way, I don't think it's a good idea to get the exterminator to bring the poison. Becaus ein so many cases you hear that the mice then die in some far corner of the house and aren't found for days! YUK!
At least with the traps you know where to look!!!

Re: Mice!

lol, thats a great point wb!! ewww! that would be so much worse than dealing with what I'm already dealing with!!!

Re: Mice!

my parents just use those sticky pad traps you get in the store. I think they come with peanut butter on them so when the mouse comes to feed on top of the trap they get stuck and stay there until..! your husband just needs to throw it away.

Seems to be working for them.

Re: Mice!

yes thats what I've been using....

the little critters are so cute tho, and they're alive in the trap. So I took it across the street to the woods, poured veg. oil in the trap (this dissolves the glue) and let it go. Hopefully the critter learned its lesson.

Re: Mice!

I would also go with the glue traps.
Shouldn't take that long either.

Re: Mice!

Update: critter musta learned its lesson and started spreading the word to his little critter friends...no more meese in the house :) YET!! But INshallah, they know to stay away now.
