i knew it wasnt gonna do well. I mean comeon, no one can pull off Don Johnson's character, appearance, etc. Hes the only one who can get away with wearing a pink coat and fit in his role at the same time.

Basically critics hated it because the storyline is too complex and it has nothing to do with the original Miami Vice TV Series
Well Critics are dum. You have to understand the geo-politics of the area.
But this movie was freaking AWESOME....

well Summer movies work the opposite of reviews...just look at the best reviewed movies Superman and the Devil wears..have not performed as well as the badly reviewed Pirates. Anyways thanks MM,Talha

Mercenary: I do believe the critics. But I will wait for the rating on IMDB, that's usually more accurate than anything else, because it is the audience themself reviewing movies.

Miami Vice could barely be described as an 'action' movie. It was so boring I wanted to leave the theater about halfway through it. Very slow story, and many unnecessary scenes. For about an hour, I kept asking myself 'Why am I watching this? What's the point?'
Terrible performance by Colin Farrell, forced lines and all, and he doesn't do much. Jamie Foxx gets to do all the cool **** (which isn't saying much). The crew isn't introduced at all, so you don't really know who they are, and you have no emotional attachment towards any of them. The movie starts by confusing the hell out of the audience, and the ending does the same.
This movie is boring.

Its a Michael Mann movie so its a Crime Saga not an blow them up action movie. Its a Mature movie for mature audiences.

The performances were pretty good. As for the confused plot, I completely understood what was going on. Basically you jump right into a case without any backstory because its unnecessary. Telling a backstory while they are on a case looks very unrealistic. But If you were smart you picked out the subtle hints on each character's backstory.
I think its one of the best movies of the Year and one of the best Michael Mann movies ever.
But Heat still remains my favourite Michael Mann movie ever, this is a close 2nd.

Something is wrong with you. The Insider was the best movie this year until Pirates came along - and this isn’t better than Collateral.

The Insider? This year’s best movie? Hallucinating are we? Maybe you are mixing “the insider” with the “Inside man”. He is talking about Michael Mann movies.. Inside man is a Spike Lee movie.
