Now, I’m not sure how to incorporate this into my skincare routine, esp since I do the Oil cleansing method. I have dryish-sensitive skin.
Right now, what I do is, I do the OCM by rubbing a combo of olive and castor oil and wipe it away with hot water towel. If I had on makeup that day, then I’ll follow up with a cleanser, if no makeup then no cleanser. Once a week, I use a facial scrubbing pad for exfoliation.
If it’s evening, I’ll put on some Johnson’s baby aloe vera gel for moisturization ONLY if my skin feels super parched and tight, otherwise nothing. For the daytime it’s a little bit of Vit C serum and Garnier skin cream.
(I also hav ea bunch of sample products on hand—Lancome anti aging serum, rosehip oil that I plan on using once my current batch of olive/castor runs out), this cream thats supposed to make skin less sensitive, forget hte name.
Once a month (or I plan ot anyway), I do a face mask (nothing specific, a few things I’ve gotten in my monthly ipsy bag)…I’ve really taken an interest in caring for my skin this year and admittedly haven’t done much research beyond what I see at Sephora
I brought the Mia about 2ish years ago. Used it for over a month (did make my face squeaky clean) and gave up.
Reason: I thought it was breaking me out and then eventually my skin lady got me into acids (peels etc.) and since I am exfoliating already via the peels, I didn’t need the Mia (and the lady told me not exfoliate any more). It’s been in my cupboard ever since.
It also depends on where you live. For someone who lives in Pakistan, I would think it would be beneficial because of the mud and pollution. But if you live in a pollution free environment/don’t have too many open pores, then just a normal nice scrub would do it (BTW; the new coffee scrub by lush is amazing)
Then again, if you have the money to spare, it’s a nice tool to have to clean your face thoroughly esp. when you are not using any other means of exfoliation.
You're already doing OCM, cleanser, scrubbing pad and mask. What are you hoping to get from the Mia that's not being done by what your current routine?
BTW, why do you use cleanser after OCM for makeup? You still have makeup left after OCM?
Idk @Paheli00 I’m just more interested in my skincare now and exploring different options. I’ve heard the brush gives a much deeper clean, that’s why maybe? I don’t know if it’s long work hours, stress, or that I’ve been wearing a LOT more makeup lately, I’m just not satisfied with my skin anymore. It’s not that it’s gone worse, I’m just noticing a lot more lately?
Yes, I still have makeup left after I do the OCM. I only use makeup remover if I have super heavy eye makeup, otherwise it’s directly the OCM and sometimes facewash. What am I doing wrong?
I too am thinking about getting a clairsonic product...but i am not sure if i should get the facial one or the body one.
I feel like i need to exfoliate my legs in between waxes because my legs get really stubbly and rough. My face has gigantic pores and is really oily so i also feel like some deep cleansing would help...i heard initially you will break out but after that things should smooth out.
Anyways no advice really but i say go for it. Everyone i know says its amazing and their make up goes on way better.
Based on what you wrote above, I really don’t need you need it. The brush is basically meant to deep clean/exfoliate. It’s a matter of preference but there are much more cheaper options out there. If you actually Google and learn how OCM works on the skin, you will see that OCM does give a deep cleaning. And you’re already using something to exfoliate. Too much exfoliation is not good for the skin. Of course, one great thing about the U.S. is the generous return policies most stores have lol. Noting wrong with getting/trying the MIA if you really want to. If it doesn’t make a difference on your skin, you can always return it for a full refund.
There are other products out there that will give you better results in the long run such as Vitamin C serum, lactic acid peel, Retin-A. Of course, a good sunscreen. Do you already use any of these products? And what exactly about your skin has been bothering you lately?
When removing make-up, I first get a cotton pad, put eye make-up remover and remove eye make-up b/c I don’t have to massage that area for too long and I like to get all eyeliner off first. Then I take a carrier oil and apply all over face. I massage in circular motions for a few minutes. Then I take a face towel, run it under super hot water (the hottest my sink will get), and put it on my face and gently wipe off. I run the towel under water/wipe off my face 3-4 times. Then I put Dickinson’s 100% witch hazel toner on a cotton pad and run that all over my face. 99% of the time, the witch hazel pad is clean but there are occasion where it will pick up some make-up if I didn’t massage the oil throughly. You should not need a face wash after OCM to remove face make-up every single time.
Just a reminder... If you over clean your face, you can strip out natural oils your skin needs which causes your skin to generate more oil to compensate which will lead to more breakouts.
I use a clarisonic but that's all and I only use it in the evening to remove all my makeup.
I use a clarisonic, but that's the only exfoliator i use. They suggest to stop using it at least a week before a facial as well. I love my Mai and would recommend it.
It also is suppose to make you break out during the first month or so, supposed to be getting all the dirt out.
currently i am using the deep pore daily cleaners, but i started with the acne one (since i am pregnant i didn't want to see the acne one.) But i use Clarisonic products since that's what they recommend as well.
For my skincare, I use SPF products but no specific sunscreen. A few months ago I noticed dark patches around the corner of my mouth but they’re gone now–i was told that it could happen due to wax that’s too hot. I got 3 pimples in the last month, but they’re gone now (still have the dots though?)
I did get a skin polishing from a desi salon a few days ago and I loved the results. I think a few good facials are more worth it to me, just for the pampering aspect of it.
I also used a sample facewash, Korres greek yogurt wash, and I LOVED my skin afterwards. :halo:
I think that’s where I’m going wrong–I do the water/wipe once or twice at the most, not 3-4 times. Hottest is too hot and I’m scared of burning my skin so I keep it slightly less hot and then finish with a cool water rinse.
Try Foreo Luna or its cheaper version sold on Amazon: Clawa. It's about six times cheaper than Foreo and works just as good. I absolutely love it and prefer it over Clarisonic brush.
For my skincare, I use SPF products but no specific sunscreen.
Products with SPF, such as make-up or creams, do not have anywhere near enough protection to property protect your skin. When it comes to taking care of the skin in order to prevent fine lines, wrinkles, age spots etc., a good sunscreen is the BEST thing you can have. Since you're investing so much time/energy/money on other products, you really should get a good sunscreen.

Try doing it 3-4 times and see if it makes a difference. Hopefully this simple change will get the job done. :)
^ I'm a big fan of physical sunscreens (good chemical vs. physical to learn the difference). Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC cream is what I use daily. I love the fact that it's tinted so on most days, I don't need to apply foundation on top. It's also VERY moisturizing so unless my skin is super dry, I can also skip a separate moisturizer. With 20% zinc, it offers amazing protection. Ulta sells it so you can try it out and if you don't like it, return and get your money back.
The other two I've used and liked are Devita Solar Moisturizer (19% zinc) and Pratima Neem Vetiver Sunscreen (18.6% zinc). BTW, with both Devita and Pratima, you can purchase the body version for your face; its the same product but you get a lot more product for a few extra dollars.
Order of products for face:
1. Vitamin C serum
2. Moisturizer
3. Sunscreen
4. Primer
5. Foundation
6. Powder
7. Blush etc.
The only 2 things that is a MUST from the list above is vitamin c and sunscreen. Everything else, see if your skin really needs it. Meaning if your skin doesn't feel/look super dry, don't put on moisturizer "just because".
I don't see why you would moisturize just to moisturize. If the skin already feels moisturized meaning it's not dry at all, why add a product that's meant to moisturize?
I have combination skin and I skip moisturizer quite often and never experienced any negative issues.
