Mezban Foods:A review

As you all know I am a big fan of Mezban Foods (by Dawn Bread). As a side note, I am not a lazy person, in fact i LOVE to cook, but I am a consultant which means on week days, I am away from home and live in a hotel. SO I either eat out or bring in Mezban Foods and microwave them. So I have essentially tried most of their stuff (except the halwas). Here’s the list of stuff I’ve tried and what i think

  1. Shami Kabab: These are pretty good and not very spicy either. These are uncooked and need to be fried.
  2. Vegetarian Shami: I am not a huge fan of these. They feel like baby mush.
  3. Seekh Kabab: These are pretty good and I usually get these aften. They are precooked and only need to be microwaved, which can be tricky at times (a lot of times I’ve ended up with rubber like kababs coz they got over heated)
  4. Chicken Boti Tikka: Prettttty good, albeit spicy. These only need to be microwaved
  5. Chicken Hara Tikka: These are pretty good too and in my opinion milder than the regular. These are also pre cooked.
  6. Halwa Purvi Chana: I have written a post on this and yeah i am a HUGE fan. Only complaint is the miniature halwa serving. But over all , it’s great value for money and makes me wonder how the hell they were able to fit so much stuff in one box.
  7. Daal Puri Channa( variation): This is a different kind of puri and is filled with daal. I had never had it before i tried the Mezban version and am not sure if I am too crazy about it.
  8. Murgh Cholay: This was the first thing I tried. This is precooked and honestly I am not sure i remember how it tastes, but I think I really liked it.
  9. Bhaigaray Baingun: I also JUST wrote a post on it. YUM YUM YUMMY. This beats any indian/ pakistani restaurant baingun. Duas to whoever made this.
  10. Vegetable Biryani: I really like this and usually have it with my tikkas and kababs.
  11. Lahori Cholay: I bought these a few days back and these are lying unopened in the fridge. Will update when i try these
  12. Haleem: I tried this a few days back and found it pretty bad. Not getting this again.
  13. Samosaz: Yum Yum Yummy. Ultra spicy but AMAZING.

I am sure I am missing something and will add it to this thread later. These days I am obsessed with the baingun, which is strange since I never liked baingun in Pakistan. I think just the fact that it’s hard to find good veggie dishes here makes you miss stuff from home. Interestingly I am pretty much over the tikkas and kababs just coz I have had them wayyyyyy too many times either from Mezban or from restaurants.

Note to Mezban Foods: I am still waiting for my check from you guys for promoting all your products. You can also choose to pay me in Mezban Food meals:).

Re: Mezban Foods:A review

I think I've tried their kababs and stuff...but they are soooo expensive!
