Mexican food v/s Italian

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Love Frontera & Topolobampo too!!! My husband makes fun of me because I stalk Food Network/PBS cooking show personalities like most people do movie stars :cb:

I plan our vacays around where I want to eat, depending on the city we’re in and in Chi-town, it’s Rick Bayless all the way!!!

Actually Italian and Chinese food could be compared because Columbus bought back pasta to Italy. The Italian
Have sauces made out of fresh veggies and herbs while Chinese dishes use soy sauce, aginomoto, vinegar to make sauces.

I do make fajitas and lasagna. Those ate my favorites. I dont like taco bell and have eaten bean burritos a couple of times.

I make Italian inspired good much more often like lasagna, pizza, and spaghetti.

I have never really tried mexican foods like Mole (chocolate sauce with meats) or the seafood dishes. I know that Texas has a lot of taquerias,,,but never tried them. I think that I am happy with few favorites that are made. In a lot of american homes.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

One of my Mexican friends made me try her mom's food once...and I have to say...the real stuff is nothing like what you find in restaurants.

I like some things about Italian food...like the bread and olive oil. I like their different types of pasta and sauces.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Hey Hey you guys, Olive Garden may not be an authentic Italian but I love their free bread. That is the next best free bread after Red Lobster's.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

their bread is like sponge -__- me no likey

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Yup, I am sponge bob

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

There is no way those 2 even fall within the same category  (Red Lobster biscuits VS Olive Garden bread)

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Agree. Red Lobster biscuits are superior.

Red lobster are too die for. They are awesome. The free biscuits are the best part Of the meal. I think you can make them from bisquick. Recipe is on the box.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

The region along Italian riviera has excellent fish and seafood dishes. These people know how to make good seafood but a good Mexican ceviche is also delight to eat.
Chipotle/Rubio's and olive garden etc are bad Americanized version of these cusines and don’t do justice to the real deal.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Sorry guys, but Red Lobster is awful!!! Other than the biscuits, the food sucks. Everything tastes like like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp for ages… :bummer:

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

I tried making them once....and they turned out fine (taste wise) and in appearance....just a tad tough in texture. But yes, you can become full on the biscuits alone. Went there with family for dinner a couple of weeks ago...and I liked the biscuits more than the meal.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

People stop wasting your money on Red Lobster/Olive garden/Cheese cake factory etc type chain restaurants.
Find small good eats in your town and you’d be surprise how superior food quality is for equal if not less the money.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Agreed! For the most part, I try to avoid chain restraunts as much as possible!

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

I’m not that big of a fan to Red Lobster either…but their biscuits…yum:yummy:

I don’t think of Chipotle as ‘authentic’ Mexican…buts its good nevertheless!!!

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

LMAO, okay this might sound bad......but I like Long John Silver's battered fried shrimp better than Red Lobster's. So unhealthy, but so yummy. Good thing I only indulge once in a while.

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

^LOL! I love their hushpuppies as well

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

Me too :cb:

LJS reminds me of my papa

Re: Mexican food v/s Italian

I heart Red Lobster’s biscuits…
