I did not say that it was fixed. I only raised a possibility of it. And I am not the only one doing it. There are other people who are thinking on the same line. This is why I gave reference to that CNN report.

It may not have been fixed. Spain might have capitulated. But if it is so then Spain does not deserve to be called the great team. That’s it.

Corruption happens everywhere. We know only recently FIFA officials were found to accept bribes from Qatar to give them the 2022 World Cup.

Noone is calling them the sole favorites. However they are a great team as they have won all three tournaments worldwide the last three times. Its laughable a team with such pedigree would do something like this. Barcelona have been found out again and again last two years and Spain’s half team is full of Barca players with the exact same style. A team with a new system, some old players who are big names but not as good it was predictable and bound to happen sooner or later. Also all these players ear around 8-12million or so a year. You’d have to tempt them with Bill Gates style money.

As for fixing, CNN is not saying its Spain. Historically African countries have indulged in it a lot and so have the Italians. You brought them up specifically and I was surprised that you did, as their defeat isn’t really that surprising. If the Dutch hadn’t done it then Chile may have had or any team with a decent counter attacking system.

FIFA is corrupt, yes. Its accepted worldwide, it doesn’t mean the players are. Consdiering how massive football is around the world i.e. the number of top leagues the thousands of players the match fixing is nothing in comparison to say cricket and very low considering football’s size.
