In NY. Have they gone up for every ride or something? I thought only the monthly and weekly cards increased in price… but today when I got on teh bus, it said I only had $1.50 left. So.. what happens with that now? And is that buy 5 rides get 1 free still in effect or is it a totally new system now? I’m confused. I googled it but couldnt really find anything on it.
Re: Metrocards (NYers)
i know abt da metro cards, no idea abt the buses tho. neva rode in them ![]()
sorry na, mta.info dun say anythin either
Re: Metrocards (NYers)
I don't know how you got the $1.50 left in your card. That doesn't make any sense. They go by intervals of $2.00.
Re: Metrocards (NYers)
^ Uff tum bhi na... Subway and bus is the same!
Sabriya, the base fare is still the same, its still $2 for both..
i dont know why ur metrocard said $1.50 remained, are you sure what your balance was beforehand?
For unlimited rides, its 81 for a monthly, 25 for a weekly and a new 47 one for two weeks.
for the other one..i still have no idea. but the idea is that u get a 15% bonus.. instead of 20%? i duno.
Re: Metrocards (NYers)
I am not in NY but common sense tells me that one shouldn't be surprised if the price does go up. The price of gasoline and diesel has also gone up during the past weeks and months and although buses are public transport, they also need to stay up with the fares in order to make profit and survive.

Re: Metrocards (NYers)
Ok, I went to the train station this morning and you know the machines where you get the metrocard from.. they have new options... like buy 3 rides but you get 4 rides for the price of $7 I believe it was... and now the $10 card refills to the amount of $11.50, not $12.00, not exactly a whole free ride anymore. So what they told me is, that when you have 1.50 remaining in your card, you simply refill it with 50 cents more or whatever you want. Sounds pretty retarded to me. They shouldve either kept the whole free ride, or taken it away altogether.
