here’z a review I stumbled over regardin Method Man!
Artist: Method Man
Album: Tical 2000-Judgment Day (Def Jam)
28 phat tracks for that a$$ - Method Manís sophomore release is truly a maturing effort. This long awaited album was well worth the wait. Method clearly put an abundance of time and energy into this one, so Meth, Jonny Blaze, ìwe ain’t mad atchaî. Understanding that the whole hip hop culture and industry is flooded with artists coming out with virtually identical material, trying to out sample each other, and jumping on Puff Daddyís trendy train, Method Man deserves his props for not buying a ticket, relying instead on his own transportation. Iím hoping everyone has grown out of it buy now, but for those of you who are still craving familiar songs from the past, such as eighties hits, or catchy show tunes carried by unoriginal, cheap, over night lyrics about how much money they have made off you, what car they drive, and how that makes them talented artists then don’t buy this CD, better yet pick it up and see what a seriously novel artist can do. Method Man came on to the scene with the Wu-Tang Clan and has been stalking our ears with his raw, east coast street-life style rapping ever since. Comically hardcore lyrics, a keen sense of metamorphosing reality and roughneck lifestyles mixed with some Wu-Tang flavor describes his first album ìTicalî, but he comes a bit more light hearted on this follow up.
