Messy Living

Anyone a hot mess to live with? Disorganized, cluttered, even to some extent…gross?

But you’re not the guy, you’re the girl…

:frowning:

Must be tough for guys to deal with a messy girl.

Re: Messy Living

messy is hot

Begum is messy, I put her stuff in a basket and in her closet. Problem solved.

I am used to a military school, a very preppy fraternity house with a house manager and house mother from hell, and am very organized .. Begum is more.... Organic in her approach, so.., all clutter in a basket is my quick solution. :-) yaay me.

Re: Messy Living

I am messy. It taked A LOT of effort from me to clean my room. :(

For now, it's just my moms very severe scolding (I'm punjabi :$ ) that makes me clear the clutter. God knows what'll happen if and when I have a husband.

Re: Messy Living

It depends on a person but 70% of Desi women I know are not well organized. May be because they are so much pampered at home and they are not use to take responsibility.

Re: Messy Living

my room is clean but my closet is messy but organized

Re: Messy Living

No can't do. Messy enough myself, who is going to pick the socks on the sofa, clothes from the bed and shoes from the doorway??

Re: Messy Living

The key to being organized is not having too much stuff to begin with. The less shyte you have, the neater your place is gonna look. Stop buying and hoarding stuff you don't need.

Messy Living

Trying to get ready for a Desi event..forget it. Wouldn't know the definition of clean. :( would love to show you the hot mess of suit cases behind me rightnow. Will have to get to it tomorrow.

It's just my clothes being everywhere sometimes but when I clean, I clean well so I guess it's okay. Nothing gross like food and stuff, just clothes. Luckily enough, hubby is better in that aspect, so if it bothers him too much, he'll end up taking care of it for me. I need a walk in. :(

Re: Messy Living

Gross no, but the rest cluttered etc is true. I live with such a person, namely me.

Re: Messy Living

whatever… :snooty:

Re: Messy Living

Please define messy but organized.

Re: Messy Living

I'm extremely messy, lots of clutter everywhere. But def not gross, kitchen n bathroom r always kept clean, everywhere else always vacuumed and mopped. It's just that I have a habit of leaving clothes n things all over the place. Hubby keeps bedroom tidy, but I have my clothes in spare room which is extremely messy, if I actually tidy up, I can't find anything.

It's the only thing that ever causes an argument between us, my excuse now is that the kids don't let me do much.

Re: Messy Living

Thought I read: “I put her stuff in a basket and her in a closet” had to look twice

:rotfl:

Re: Messy Living

I am neatness freak. My husband mostly gets angry at my habit. Since we both live alone, work full time and have no kids. It’s just me and him in the house after 6:00pm.

I make sure my house is completely clean before I leave my house in the morning. I have this obsession of entering into my flat with every single thing kept & organized at their place neat & clean, I don’t forget to even Air Freshen lavender fragrance while leaving.

Laundry and Ironing is mostly done on weekends. The only thing I have to after coming back from work is Cooking.

when do you sleep???

Re: Messy Living

I think u can keep ur place clutter free if u never let it be cluttered in the First place. Growing up I shared a bedroom with my siblings, and since it was shared (and limited) space u couldn't really leave stuff lying around unless it was being used at that time. So there was basically never clutter there to clean up. Everything always had a place and u had to put it away when u were done. Dirty clothes in the hamper, clean clothes in the cupboard and in between clothes on the coat rack/tree kinda hanger. So growing up if I was cleaning my room I was basically dusting (for some reason my mom never made me vacuum anything, she'd do all that herself).

So when my friends (who had their own room) and generally seemed very organized (neat desk at school, nice handwriting, up-to-date with hw, fancy stationary and always a complete stationary set) when they said their room was such a mess and omg I have to clean it, I'd be like what r they talking about. Till I saw that mess! Clothes everywhere, books and papers everywhere, a multitude of knick knacks on shelves and what not. It was all clutter that could be avoided if u just put stuff back in its place, when u were done with it. Some of my friends and I went to the same college when we went to the US so basically I had to teach them how to be neat. Like give them a system. It was mainly piles of clothes in different spots. And apparently they had no idea where to hang the in between clothes. We had like 2 hooks behind the doors (and apparently never thought of getting a bigger rack). Since the closets were big I had a small section where I'd hang my once worn shirts or worn for a short period inside out on a hanger if I wanted to wear it again. This way it was separated from the laundered clothes and were not hanging in a big mess behind the door or on the floor. One of my friends picked up on all the small changes and became clutter free. After she graduated and went back home she'd get pissed when her sisters would leave a mess behind after getting ready or didnt put their clothes/books/shoes/makeup back in the right spot. She has now passed on that training to her younger sisters :) I feel happy about that (and her future husband should be grateful to me :) )

P.S since my mom made me do a lot of dusting when I was younger, I now hate knick knacks and "show pieces" and never ever buy or keep that kind of stuff in my house. Because it just annoys me jub ghar Mae "dukaan lagi hoti hae". When I look at stuff like that in someone's house all I can think of his how long that shelf or "showcase" must take to dust and to keep dust free.

Re: Messy Living

Simple, take a mop to your ghar wali..

Re: Messy Living

This is it. I live by it. I don't keep what I don't need. I hate clutter.
