AQ I agree with you on moon sighting. We all have a relationship with the physical space we live in. Sun and moon rise and set differently as per different location, and every location has it’s own sky. So why shouldn’t people celebrate the particular occasion on their peculiar dates and time? Modern mind actually tried to control that by trying to fix the days ahead, without having to sight the moon. But that’s not nature.
I agree with the idea of going out and viewing the moon and get in touch with our real world. A scholar said that when we can’t do wudu due to lack of water, we are advised to do “Tayammum”, touch the earth, feel that connection with the mother nature. There were good days, when we used to go out and sight the new moon, when we were kids. It was such a joyious moment, that evening before to go and wait for the moon to appear and then rush home with excitement screaming, it’s Ramadhan tomorrow or, it is Eid tomorrow. It’s been years, having experienced that phenomenon
Oh, few occasions I miss Pk so much. I still miss that “khushbu” in the air. I swear the air, the atmosphere wud change in Ramadhan over there. I miss that khushbu, which only comes in Ramadhan Even if you are not fasting, the atmosphere around you makes you feel that you are in that stance of fasting. No doubt it’s the best time of the year!
I don't remember a ramadan or eid when we celebrated it together.. it is just tat we wait for Saudi arabia's announcments about start of ramadan and some ppl believe it should be the moon.. but ohh well it doesn't matter as long as our believes on Allah and his prophet is strong......
P.S Ramadan mubarak to all.. and please be a good muslim.
sorry to say but it does matter.. How can our believes on Allah:swt: and Prophet:saw: be strong when we decide to disobey them? pray, explain it in simple words for me.
But when did we disobeyed him?
Does it say anywhere that we should wait for moon to start our ramadan or wait for saudi’s annoucement to start our ramadan?
yep :k:…
see my post for new moon in gulf…
we need someone to tell us whether new moon has been sighted.
See there are two ways to go for sighting (not astronomical calcs)
it Wahdatal Matale or Ikhtalaf al matale (which is unified sigthing or individual/different sightings).
So each are accepted in Fiqh according to hadeeth which says start fasting when you see the moon and break it when you see the moon (start shawal)
Wallahu Allah
Wallahu Musta’an
i would love to get a link where i can read the hadith.. just out of curiosity..
So wat ur saying is tat we can have different dates to start our ramadan? according to the moon of the country ur living in
surely u think they are disobeying Allah (SWT) and/or His Prophet (SAW) but im sure they will disagree with you and so will many others AND vice versa.
But like i said Allah knows best and our hands are tied…we gotta do what the majority is doing and Allah (SWT) see’s everything and knows we have the best of intentions.
I think it that way based on the clear ahaadeeth. One who does not feel that way does not surely believe in the contents of those sayings of the prophet:saw:
AQ bhai…
:k: to almost all of your posts here :k: :k:
only one I feel we disagree a little bit, is that you seem to show intolerance to the idea of glabal moon sighting. It is an accepted method and not wrong..
also, please email me any commentary on Umar RA Ijtehad or opinion…

Dont these 18 scholars know this? im sure they made their decision based on something. Anwar this is your view (im not saying it's wrong or right) and that is their view....so why even argue about it? lets just be happy....let Allah deal with those who disobey. OUR intentions are good....that counts for something.
They know it but they do not follow… I am afraid this is the very definition of “ulama-e-Su” in quran .. and Rasoolulah:saw: said that a time will come that my ummah will follow jews so much so that if they went in to the lizard hole, we will go in for sure.. Quran talks about Ulama-e-Su in Jews, btw. We are self-sufficient in them these days.

can u tell me what science is required when Umar:razi: did not find it proof enough to celebrate EID when a caravan **“SAW” **the moon with “NAKED” eye 100 miles away from Madinah?
So does this mean we cant rely or trust them? who will make fatwas on current issues? Should we all make our own decisions?
well, you can always find out wrong from right. you can always sense which scholar is going against the teachings... you have to educate yourself enough to understand such..
