Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

Kalashnikov Sahib, this is the Danes saying this. They are saying this in interviews. They are the ones that** used** to sympathize with the Muslims. Remember, these are the people that wanted to try Sharon for war crimes. They are now saying that the Muslims immigration needs to be restricted. They see the whole picture, and they don't like it. Tell them they are being Islamaphobic.

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

Have you seen the movie "the Last Temptation of Christ"? By the way, there were no pictures of the prophet as a child molestor. That is a lie some mullah told you.

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

You are the islamphobe and i am commenting on your posts don’t shift the blame on someone else defend yourself stop being a coward!

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

No, Actually, there were left wing danes who were marching along side danish muslims the other day to protest against the cartoons. i think you need to cut on your generalisations of both danes and muslims...especially considering you admitting in religion you dont know jack about muslims. your posts reek of a nasty prejudice.

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

Ma ji, I am not speaking about Islam. I am speaking about Muslims. I don’t need to know what Islam is or what Koran says in order to see the actions of Muslims. By the way, the Danish unity march was organized by a Dane…not the Danish Muslim community…and only a few hundred people showed up:

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

Bundook ji, again I say to you. This what the Danes are saying. I am just repeating what I heard in a news story. Take a look at these reports from a Danish newspaper:
http://www.cphpost.dk/get/93790.html
http://www.cphpost.dk/get/93767.html
http://www.cphpost.dk/get/93691.html

The Danes are shutting out Imams and calling for restrictions. Where do you think this will lead to?

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

^baqwas wallah you are now all over the place you saying one thing one minute then you change your story in the next post take a breather because you have'nt got a clue!

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

Perhaps you should read further than the heading. This is the first line...*

'As many as a thousand people gathered in the shadow of the offices of newspaper Jyllands-Posten Sunday afternoon to demonstrate...'*

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

It doesn’t matter how lewd that movie was. Can you please explain why cartoons of Jesus were not carried (acutally denied) by the same newspaper and why that editor has been sent on leave for suggesting that he would print Holocaust cartoons?

I think you should go back and re-read my post because you missed the point. The reference to child molestation was about hitting a raw nerve, such as the priest molestation cases in the Catholic church.

You seem to have a gripe against mullahs. I suppose our Sahabah and Scholars all qualify as mullahs in your world because your basically ridiculing all Islamic scholarship under the bigoted banner of “Mullah”

I have come around on this issue, I first thought the Muslims were making a big deal but after reading about the editor’s intentions, the double standards, the refusal of the Danish PM to meet with diplomats of Muslim nations, I think Denmark deserves economic boycott because their PM made it personal by chiding our leaders. The cartoons qualify as hate speech.

Re: Danish Freedom Of Speech??

I disagree. All Muslims are asking is respect for the religion and religious personalities (historical), nobody is asking the world to believe Quran IS the word of God and follow it, or Prophet Mohammed PBUH IS the prophet. As Muslims, we are asking rest of the world to acknowledge Mohammed PBUH was our prophet and “we” believe Quran is word of God and rest of the world should respect that and not ridicule/insult our beliefs/religion.

Danes said bitter over Islam cartoon flap

Feb. 10, 2006 at 11:24AM

Danish Prime Minister Anders Rasmussen says Danes are bitter over a lack of Western support during the Islam cartoon controversy. He said attempts to secure commercial advantage at his country’s expense had struck at their hearts. Violent demonstrations have been staged over the last week over a Danish newspaper’s publication last fall of cartoons featuring the Prophet Mohammed. Rasmussen argued that the cartoon crisis had been hijacked by Middle Eastern countries that were using the caricatures for domestic ends, the International Herald Tribune said.

At the same time, Rasmussen tried to shield the Bush administration and some of Denmark’s partners in NATO from accusations that they had been tardy and overcautious in coming to its defense in the crisis. He said the flap was an attempt by Iran and Syria to cause diversions in the Middle East. **Looking tired after a difficult week, Rasmussen said in an interview with the Herald Tribune that attempts by European companies in the Middle East to disassociate themselves from Denmark or Danish products was considered by Danes to be “disgraceful.” **

Islamic Jihad threatens violence over Danish Mohammed cartoons

Good to see Pakistan protesting non-violently. Anyone else feel that Islamic Jihad is hijacking Islam and perverting it? Bin Laden strike again?

Islamic Jihad threatened violence on Friday over cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed that were printed in newspapers around the globe.

In Gaza City, about 7,000 people attended a demonstration organized by the Islamic militant group.

“Until now we have limited our action to demonstrations, but if they did not stop their assault on Prophet Mohammed we will defend the prophet with our souls and blood,” Islamic Jihad leader Khader Habib told thousands of supporters after Friday prayers.

“So far we have demanded an apology from the governments. But if they continue their assault on our dear Prophet Mohammed, we will burn the ground underneath their feet,” Habib said.

In Jerusalem, about 2,000 women, young boys and older men chanted “Bin Laden, strike again” as they marched around the Dome of the Rock on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, trampling a homemade Danish flag.

Police tried to prevent violent protests by barring all men under the age of 45 from attending Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa, which is Islam’s third-holiest site.

Thousands protest in Pakistan
About 5,000 protesters gathered for the biggest rally yet in Pakistan’s capital against the cartoons on Friday as other demonstrations erupted across the country.

About 1,200 people protested in the southern city of Karachi, while about 200 rallied in the eastern city of Lahore after Friday prayers. Some chanted, “Stop insulting our religion” and “Freedom of expression does not mean you go mad.”

A political leader gave a fiery speech to the massive crowd in the center of the capital, Islamabad.

“We can destroy embassies of those countries who have hurt our feelings by publishing these blasphemous cartoons, but we won’t do it because Islam does not allow us to take any such action,” said Mian Aslam, a senior leader of a six-party coalition of Islamic groups.

Aslam urged Pakistan to sever ties with all the countries with newspapers that published the drawings. He also said Pakistan should expel envoys of nations who had taken no action against the newspapers.

Several other protests have been held across Pakistan in the past week. So far, the demonstrations have been peaceful, though rallies in other Islamic nations have been violent.

The cartoons were first printed by a Danish newspaper in September. Since then, several other Western media outlets have published the caricatures, arguing that they are only exercising their right to free speech.

Muslims are outraged because Islamic tradition bars any depiction of the prophet. Under Pakistani laws, insulting the prophet or Islam’s holy book, the Koran, can be punished with the death sentence.

Oh well Middle Eastern countries are not going to appologize for it because
it's democratic for them to express their opinion. That's what democracy is.
The same democrarcy that Mr. Rasmussen was trying to impose at the
expense of another's faith. People, their lives and faith are not elements
of a cartoon.

I ordered mine to wear to the protest!

Re: Danish PM Bitter over lack of western support

yes if u want free speech to the extreme, you gotta bear the consequences...to the extreme. you dont punch someone in the face to test their reaction. And if you do, why cry foul if it hits yer straight back in the face?

Re: Danish PM Bitter over lack of western support

Ma ji,

What the leaders of the Western world are saying is that the depictions were insensitive, but no one is backing away from their freedom of speech. As a matter of fact, several newspapers in theUS have printed them as well.
But more to the point, the "extreme" reaction by the Muslims has done nothing but reinforce the sentiments of the entire world. How do you think the Danes will feel about the Palestinians when Islamic Jihad makes the Danes pay? How do you think the French already feel, they are passing laws that target Muslims...let's not forget the head dress law.
The hit is just the first punch Ma ji. Muslims are getting isolated all over the world. People are wondering why there are no protests of the Shia killed in Pakistan.

Re: Danish PM Bitter over lack of western support

Good point.
