menu planning (wish list)

i like to plan menu ahead of time …makes everything quite smooth …n plus its a big time saver …

but i just want to dump my usual menus for a while …well, not dumping but just want a change …

it would be a lot easier if i were cooking just for me …but my husband is a bit picky …n usually doesn’t like veggies …
anyway , now i request all of you to suggest at least one main dish n a dessert …no worries if its not a nice combo etc. …i’ll mix n match …just suggest something

or may be i should ask you what do you want to see on your dinner/lunch table today…???

Afia
have u tried making halwa with milk?
I luv it. Let me know if u need the recipe.

Here is a recipe for another dessert.

Take two cans of fruits.
Drain the syrup out.

Get a pack of cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk and whip cream. Blend these items in a blener. Pour them over the fruits
in a bowl. Voila!

If u are watching calories get everything low fat/fat free.

Oh I just remembered another one that I just had at someones house
during ramadan.

Get evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, whip cream,
two pieces of toasted breads, some pista and almonds.
Blend everything together. Freeze it. Voila. Tastes like qulfi.

sajal thanx for the recipes…

no i can’t be on watching calories mission …i’m already horribly skinny
but for dear husband its a different story …:hehe:
oh well, i’m not gonna tell him the ingredients …::devil: i’m sure he’ll like it!

n halwa …ummm r u talking about suji ka halwa (doodh wala) also known as mukhaddi halwa…???
if its that then sure i’m already in love with that …if otherwise then share the recipe …!!!please …!!!

Afia,

Here is the recipe,

One chicken, boiled and shredded.

Cut up any veggies you can use..with my husband I have to keep it to green pepper, red pepper, and those really thin shredded carrots you can get....sometimes I slip in mushrooms as well.... but when I used to make it before I used all sorts of veggies....

So, saute the veggies in a little oil...just to soften them up...add a little soya sauce, ( I mean like a not even 1 tsp kinda deal), add the chicken and mix together well..

Put the mixture in the bottom of a shallow baking dish, I use those corning ware dishes or pyrex..

Make white sauce, here is my quick recipe, 2 tbsp butter melted and mixed with 2/3 tbsp flour, keep mixing till the 'flour' smell goes away. Add 1/2 of a maggi cube chicken flavour.. Then add about 2 cups milk and let the mixture come to a boil and thicken. I like my white sauce quite thick...but thats is a prefernce thing...

Addd the white sauce on top of the chicken mix..and let it sink in...While that happens, just roll out puff pastry, I just get the sheets in the frozen section and that fits almost perfectly into my dish. Brush with egg wash..and bake at 350 for until the puff pastry rises and becomes golden...mine ttakes about 30 mins...

Hope your husband likes it....

Yeap
u are talking about the same halwa
but I thought it was called "mukhandi halwa".
Well may be not.
