Menu for tea parties!

i’ve never hosted tea parties…

but want to host one in coming days…

i want to know what items you prefer when you host for say four friends/females only or four females with 2,3 kids?

Re: Menu for tea parties!

eeeee tea parties are my favourite ..

you can do so much and make it a hit ! Here’s a list of some of my hot favourite snacks that have recieved good feedback from guests, you can choose and mix what ever you find easy. I would choose about 3 snacks from each list below , so a total of 6 snacks , no more then that :

**Salty Snack: **

  • A platter that had vegie and cheese tikkas on skewers in half the platter and the other half had chicken and lamb boneless tikka’s on skewers.
  • roasted Potatos or French Fries with either grilled chicken pieces or KFC style roasted chicken
  • Bite sized Pizza’s with various fillings
  • chicken patties
  • Vegie or meat samosa’s with sauces
  • club sandwiches
  • Chinese pakora or desi style pakora’s
  • Channa chat ( I dont serve them in a bowl , just pop a spoonful on a cracker and add a touch of sauce on top , prepare a good few like this, decorate in a platter , it looks so much more attractive ! )
  • Kababs ( shami or potato )

**Sweet snacks:

  • **a selection of two types of biscuits and a marble cake
  • cupcakes
  • meetha paratha cut up in thin slices and decorated with corn syrup .. Its got a desi name but I am forgetting it now ..
  • Bakalava
  • Carrot halwa
  • Strawberries dipped in chocolate

**Selection of Tea and Coffee
**- Tea ( different flavours )

  • Coffee
  • Cold Coffee
  • Different toppings for the coffee, if you can manage to get them from the closest store
  • Pink Tea with loads of nuts

Normally I make desi style paki hui chai and leave it in a flask. For regular tea, I leave the teabags and flavoured teabags in a plate and guests can put together their own choice of tea.

Cold coffee , I keep aside in a flask as well and every 15 -20 minutes I would froth up some milk , put the froth in the tiny ramekins I have and place them next to the cold coffee , so guests could froth up their cold coffee

For toppings, I had various kind until last year , just keep them on the table and guests can help themselves …

PS: If kids are coming as well, I do keep a tiny platter only for the kids .. normally it has bite sized chicken nuggets, bite sized potato popcorn ( boiled potato balls covered with crumbs and egg and fried ) , some crisps, fries, etc ..

Re: Menu for tea parties!

Our most recent tea party/mini dinner had the following menu:

Chicken and spinach lasagna
freshly battered and fried fish fillets
chicken cajun sandwiches
Seekh kabobs
chutney

For dessert we had gulab jaamans and tea

My dads old classmate/ friend and his family were visiting from out of state, they were going to be dropping in for a quick hello and advised us not to go out of our way as they had already attended a birthday party earlier that day.
